This is a feature, it resets the audio engine, and so will click. The problem will most likely be the plugin modelling have a large DC offset, and then you click on the cpu meter and "click".
gotcha, i kinda expected the click but not THAT loud (its over 0dbfs)

well that’s good news, should be an easy fix then and not compiler related

if the preset is causing issues then the circuit warmup may also have issues and so warmup badly to a high dc level.

Cool! also ive been randomizing for sometime now,i noticed the some of the results are panned by quite a lot, this is by design right?

Andy, can you elaborate on how we should be using the Randomize screen? I'm not fully getting it at the moment.

It seems like the dots at the bottom of the screen are "randomization presets" that we can go back and forth between. If yes, that's cool but...

If I adjust the Mono or Stereo depth, it automatically creates a new one the second I release the mouse. Like, I'm just moving a slider here, I'm not looking to commit a bunch of variations just yet. If I'm understanding this correctly, I'm not really liking this "auto-apply" functionality. I'd rather have the settings adjust so I can hear them, then have an Apply button to commit the current values once I land on something I like versus it happening automatically. I was just auditioning settings and those little preset slots just filled right up.

Also, how does Mutate work differently than Ramdomise (British spelling...it's got a Z in it)? I'm not getting what the difference is between Randomize (much better) and Mutate.

How do we clear the mod presets if we want to start over? Is that what Mutate does?

Love the new GUI! Had to manually copy over my old presets from AppData\Roaming\Cytomic\The Scream\Presets into the new Documents\Cytomic\The Scream\Presets location in case anyone else had some presets saved and is wondering where they went.

I believe the "Stereo" slider on that screen controls the amount of offset between the two channels. It's set to 100% by default. Try dropping it down to 2%-5% for less extreme changes.

Yeah, I completely missed those too when Andy first posted screen prints weeks ago. They don't look like sliders. Andy had to explain it to me back then, so I had a bit of a head start over you. :hihi:

The dots are undo/redo states for component value changes, so if you change a single value manually, or all of them at once with the randomise button you get a new dot to drag past to recall that state. (ps: you can use the mod 1/2 switch to change between two sets of component values, ie a mod, each of the mods has its own set of undo dots)

Thanks for pointing out about the preset location change, it was so long ago now I completely forgot.

When you click Randomise it creates a set of random numbers to add to the current component values to give what you hear (so you can adjust the depth afterwards). When you click Mutate it stores the current component values you can hear and bakes those into the base values, and then randomises from there.

Love the new GUI and HD mode. On my simple I5 laptop I get from 20% to 80% CPU usage in Bitwig Studio 4.4. It wasn't the case with the earlier version I believe. But my guess is, because the earlier post/report in this thread, that you are already on it.

There are many changes here, so there could be lots of issues that may need sorting, so if you run into a problem first please email support@cytomic.com your system setup details (macos / win / daw / and versions of all). Also post here if you want, but I will conduct support via email. I still need to do the manual, and presets, but wanted to get this out so people can have fun with it, and be able to give some feedback for the final release.

v1.1.4 (22 Nov 2022)
• New: user interface update (green)
• New: MD mode (selected when the HD switch is off)
• New: Randomisation and Quick Mods page (with undo bar)
• New: schematic based value editing
• New: undo / redo buttons for VST parameters
Oh, so that's why we have freezing rain today!
Gonna check out, great news.

The schematic thing is super innovative, feels like i can mimic any distortion pedals i want but no way im learning that dark magic, would love to have a bunch of presets for this, im not a presets guy but this is a BIG exception

Post

Hi Andy, would love some additional options for the schematic view:

1. Copy Mod 1 to Mod 2
2. Restore to default (could back to the 808)
3. Swap Mod 1/2

Use case: I created a cool mod, but whoops, I did it in Mod 1. I'd like Mod 1 to remain a stock 808, but I want to copy this mod into Slot 2.

I do agree with jtsterays that it would be cool if there were "mod presets" that could be loaded into a Mod slot without modifying anything else.

Here's an attachment [it's an actual The Scream preset - not the schematic] with some tweaks to Mod 1 for more gain and drive. I used some values from the Earthquaker Plumes schematic but I'm not even sure how to fully translate that here if it even can be done. Am I putting things in the right place? No idea! But where I landed sounds really good!

Image

The preset has more drive and a lot more bottom than stock and sounds less honky.

I thought owning a Cytomic plug-in got me a discount on buying more. I was just away to get the scream but I can't see how to get the discount, or has it gone?
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.
