I'll wait but I think I will install once stable.

I really like the ability to create custom color themes.

with the colour themes
- can the steps in the step sequencer it defaults to colour be changed?
I never liked that red shade
I wonder what I want in here

Looks good but I still can't wrap my head around the pattern based workflow. I mean I understand the concept, but I find it really slows me down compared to just working from a linear timeline without worrying about what pattern each clip is in (like in Cubase, Studio One etc.).

I read that they would move towards a more conventional workflow, at least as an option but maybe that's for FL 22?
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Thats pretty much how I use FL- as a pattern-based groove box type thing...I know you can do linear and audio recording in FL but I just prefer to use Studio One for that type of stuff...but if your just ITB with Midi and dropping samples in its very fast to get things going and a ton of fun.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

That´s already done since V20 and includes Instrument and Audio tracks which create a permant binding between the Channel Rack, the Playlist and the Mixer!!
But the Pattern workflow will never change...
At the very end it´s a bit unusual to get used to make clips unique before changing them but it´s nothing too drastic especially with the power it got...

I am not a big fan of this pattern thingie and have always used FLS like a conventional sequencer... it´s sometimes an extra step envolved but works well too!
It´s the price you pay for using FLS but I find it still the most appealing...

Sadly they waste now a whole lot of time for this silly theming nonsense but once this got sorted out (I guess in the next 12 month) and people realize that all this color toying around was nonsense from the first moment and does bring nothing on the table than wasted time, they will hopefully get back into serious work trying to catch up to the big guys featurewise...
On the plan for 21.x updates are a new Mixer, ARA 2 support and Midi 2.0... this is a bit more substancial than this kiddie bullsh*t at the moment...

Theming has been one of the most requested features for many years. They added it because it was requested, whether you wanted it or not. Several DAWs have some form of theming capabilities (Reaper's full on skinning for instance) so adding a theme feature to FL Studio is "keeping up" with other DAWs.

I've been using FL Studio since version 3 and it's a blessing to have something fresh to look at when working with it for several hours a day. Theming wasn't my number one request but I am grateful it was added. My number one feature request was once again passed over but I'm not going to go on a forum and throw a temper tantrum because it took a backseat to all the features (and new plugins that I don't need) that were added to this release.

If you don't understand the value of having a comfortable and appealing work space then simply ignore the feature. We can now customize FL to fit our eyesight, color preferences, brightness, contrast, etc to fit our personal preferences and working environment. I don't remember anyone crying when Toolbar customization was added and I've taken full advantage of that feature.

A comfortable and efficient workspace can only enhance productivity so there is nothing "kiddie" about themes. If you're worried about FL looking like it's made for kids then you'll want to go on a tirade about FL Chan.

You complaining like a spoiled child is pointless because the Theme feature has already been added and is still under development. It just makes you come off as rude, condescending, and arrogant.

I was never a fan of the army green look of FL so being able to tweak that is real nice, there are already some good themes out there, it's not something that you need to dwell on for too long, it's just another function and I am glad they implemented it.

Me too, although I accidently saved one project in the RC, :hihi: Will wait for the final release until I switch from 20 completely.

This is a complete different topic... Making a DAW look completely like something else is quite different to toying around with some colors...

Second was FLS the absolute pioneer about this kind of color scheme which every other DAW has taken over because it was so popular... so it´s hard to believe for me that some color changes were really that necessary...

The reason this topic was so hugely requested is a different problem of FLS...
Too many users which prefer toying around instead of working with it seriously

I do understand this in DAWs like Reaper or former Cakewalk products which were out of the box that ugly that really nobody could stand this...
But FLS was always appealing on the eyes... again there was logically no need for this mess which happens now...

You really want to compare an addition which was implemented very quickly and since then has never caused any trouble with what happens now in the FLS forums??
For me it´s a big difference if further development is on halt for 2 days or half a year! And we will be lucky if they will be able to sort this out in really "just" 6 month!
They opened pandorra´s box here and I am sorry... somebody for whom the look of his/her DAW is more important than actually using it is not a good reference to take for further development decisions...

I cannot remember having seen any YT videos from people actually releasing music that they have shown their DAW in any different look than the default!
It´s quite rare that all people being busy to use the software for it´s purpose do not need to change any colors or skins to be productive and find their DAW a comfortable and efficient workspace!

FLS was already very comfortable and equally efficient as it was before... without blocking the development completely and keeping the whole staff busy with bugs/problems and millions of feature requests which detail they want to change the color on now...
You complaining like a spoiled child is pointless because the Theme feature has already been added and is still under development. It just makes you come off as rude, condescending, and arrogant.
Sorry, I forgot that´s normally your main role... I forgot... I beg your pardon! :tu:

Ah. Bitten by good, automatic work practices.

I'm indifferent regarding the themes. Though I might like to see full texture mapping - with scaling, position, transparency and maybe different blending modes. I'm guessing we can swap any control design for those made with the software used for creating Patcher controls.

Biggest deal for me, is this:
Improved CPU usage associated with Mixer processing improvements.

I'm sure glad they 'wasted time' on it. Do you have the same opinion regarding the clothes you wear?

Esthetics may not be important to you but does that give you right to decide what is important for everyone else?
