Hi folks (this has been cross posted to the AB forum as well)

Thanks so very much for your interest in Wotja 23.

We've been working very hard on it for the last 6 months or so and there are some new additions and improvements that we hope you will find very interesting indeed. :)

The User Guide for V23 (which in itself has been a huge effort for various reasons) is now live. In it we list the biggest things that are new, with links to the relevant part in the UG. NB: We may simply not bother detailing what seems to be hundred of other minor improvement we have made.

V23 User Guide: https://wotja.com/guide/
V23 What's New: https://wotja.com/guide/#whatsnew

We, ourselves, have only just started to scratch the surface on what can now be done in V23. The new ogg-supporting Sample Player (SP) and awesome included samples (big thanks to Mark Harrop) is part of that, but by no means all. :).

Personally, I still find it incredible that the new Sample Player can load a Wotja Template and then - every time the mix starts - cook that, in memory, as the sample (up to 20 secs in duration) to use. If you are using a Generative template, it means that every time you start the mix you are using a different (and potentially unique) sample. The ramifications for those who grok sound design in Wotja could be quite exciting indeed.

One reason for excitement is that the Template or Ogg sample used in a Sample Player can be saved to the mix file (i.e. embedded within it). Templates are quite small (just few kB) so that holds out the premise for small, shareable (or web-embedded) 'sample based' mixes featuring custom sound designs. Of course, the mixes could use your own created Ogg samples instead (perhaps you want to tell as story using your voice). The mind boggles as to what can now be done in V23.

Last year we finally settled on a model where we would set SRPs for the 'Pro' variants of that year's App, and then run Early Bird deals at the beginning of the year, primarily for longer term users.

Our 30% off Early Bird 1 (EB1) for Wotja 23 Pro Apps will be the very best one and will run from date of pre-order (Apple only) through to Jan 14th (i.e. it ends on Jan 15th). For those who miss that, we will run another couple. They will still be great, but they will not be as great!

We hope you enjoy V23!

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that doubt

I give up: what IS this? A sample player? And please don't say "generative music system" because that doesn't tell me anything.

Yes, give up trying to describe in English what this IS.

Math is better: "It's like playing a music probability game that lets you change the variables"

Best to try it out :wheee:

If you like the 2017 BBC Click interview by Spencer Kelly, "Brian Eno: Behind The Reflection" you might like Wotja.

Windows users ? If no preorder possible looks like a very short time for early bird offer.

Hi!

For every OS platform (Windows, Apple, Android) our EB1 price for 'Wotja 23 Pro' is available for the first 2 weeks of the year.

As Apple ALSO supports pre-ordering (even though the App is still not available until Jan 1st), we are able to start running EB1 for Apple users once Apple have approved the apps (and it is never a given as to when that is). IF Microsoft supported pre-ordering we would of course do the same there!

EB1 will be followed by an EB2 and likely also an EB3, but those will not be at as deep a discount.

I hope that helps

Best wishes

Tim

Good question, and great answer, too. :)

Yes, it IS hard to describe what Wotja IS, but it is a 'creator player lab' system for generating live music using chance at its heart (but structure can be added). It is not just about music, but about sonic texture and text, too. And, if you include an image, then that as well. Great skill can be developed/deployed in creating 'mixes', too.

We have also sometimes referred to it as a Reflective Music System (for background, see: https://palmsounds.net/2016/12/31/lets- ... ermorphic/).

From another viewpoint, 'Wotja' is like a warm friendly greeting, in terms of a 'hello' or a 'welcome', to a sonic space that is generated live (i.e. in the moment: https://wotja.com/music/inmo/) for you to enjoy, reflect, relax, contemplate or whatever you feel like. And you can create/customise/share as you wish.

I don't know if that helps any, but it might give some different perspectives!

for the first 2 weeks of the year.
O.k., think I will have to mark that red in the calender to not forget....

And then once again the hated going to the Microsoft store (ONLY thing I ever bought and will buy from there...).
it IS hard to describe what Wotja IS
And again I have absolutely no idea what this new sample player thing is all about and why it makes such a difference (I mean it already plays sounds which have to be samples already in a way.....) but simply hoping for that BIG randomn button again so that I can experience what it DOES as with all of the other great stuff Wotja had offered before :hihi: :clown:
