Ok, here's DoctorBob's quite rushed track this time round. Composed using minimalism techniques, including a "wee joke" at the end (did you hear it? Or not?). 4-bar patterns played by members of the orchestra - you will hear many repeats/echos by many instruments. Some "call response", some "counterpoint" and some with slightly different timings to change the perceived rhythms. I hope this is apparent. Sadly, I only had Sunday evening to do all this, and a little time to re-organise and mix the final track.

I hope you enjoy it ...

Thank you to Richard S for being brave and making the BBCSO the "synth" for this month!!!

Alright, in case I somehow get distracted, I better post this as my submission already. MAYBE I may noodle on it a little more before the deadline, but for now:

CROM (which is a bit like "crooked" and rather sinister)
BBCSO Discovers: 20 instances
DAW: MuLab
FX: Auburn Sounds Panagement (free), OTT, Loudmax64
FX (com): AltiVerb, Ozone 9

That's all. :)

Here's my effort for this month. Never tried to compose anything like this before:

A cautionary tale.

This month's one synth challenge with the Spitfire Audio BBC Symphony Orchestra. This was created in Tracktion Waveform Pro with the following:

25 instances of BBC Symphony Orchestra
Kilohearts Multipass with two reverbs
Kilohearts Limiter
T-Racks Opto Compressor
T-Racks Stealth Limiter
T-Racks Metering
GVST GClip

As I can't really play anything other than ukulele, I used Scaler 2 to generate the MIDI. The latest version has the fabulous ability to split a performance with a track per chord note. I found this ideal for orchestral stuff.
Having done this I might now find a use for my Miroslav Philharmonic plugin...

Here's my entry for November:

https://soundcloud.com/richard-semper/r ... den-osc165

Created for KVR One-Synth Challenge November 2022 using Spitfire Audio BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover.

No of Instances: 15.

DAW - Mulab 9

DAW Fx: EQ, HP Filter, Limiter.
External Fx: A1 Stereo Control by Alex Hilton (on the Bass)

This is a return to melodic ideas I had when composing "My Secret Garden" some years ago, while still using soundfonts and softsynths were new to me.
The track is unfinished - minimal production processing - mainly cutting unwanted low frequencies. Most time spent on composition and arrangement. Some parts played with harp will be piano when finished (someday).

OK here's my entry for the competition, March of the Medium sized Balls.

I wrote this in MuseScore for a movie we did at my work, a school for disabled children. When I was converting it for Reaper/BBC Symphony Orchestra i found out about the competition.

Hi everyone. My attempt :D
https://soundcloud.com/zarf/zarf-a-prelude-to-nothing
19 instances of Discover in Ableton.
One ableton reverb
One glue compressor
One airWindows toTape

This is my first time composing anything vaguely classical. It was a lot of fun to go off grid and compose by ear! I don't know much classical music, or any very well, so this is probably quite strange! (There are cerainly some glitches and much room for improvement but ran out of time). The flutey bit in the middle was written for my god-daughter who has just started playing the flute at age 7.

The cover art is worth a mention - I generated it by putting the track title into DALL-E, the AI art generator. I didn't even do any further editing, just selected this image. Boy, technology these days :hyper:

Good luck all, looking forward to listening to the magic you have created with this lovely library. Thanks Spitfire!

This is my first ever attempt at writing an orchestral piece, thus the title (say it out loud). I enjoyed the challenge, but ran out of time as usual. I based the tune on an idea I had when I was a teenager (1970s), but never figured out how to use. I thought maybe orchestration would be a better format than prog rock. :hihi: Comments welcome!

My entry "Musk Devours The Carstensz Pyramid"

https://soundcloud.com/slugnest/musk-de ... al_sharing

Elon Musk is devouring the Cartensz Pyramid. He has hired all the excavators in the world and is destroying the tallest mountain in New Guinea to make way for a new project.
"This is the next phase of human history," Musk says. "We are in the process of creating a global brain for the entire world. And I get to be emperor."

Not sure if important, but I have re-uploaded my song as levels weren't right. Also renamed to include my KVR tag as per guidelines (and now downloads enabled). Sorry first one!
Just wanted to share the link again as not sure my replacement track got picked up by the OSC player. Link is same: https://soundcloud.com/bottomleya/osc16 ... -the-ocean

Unbearable, I’ve been looking for a title for two hours... :?:

Post

How about "After 2 Hours, I Finally Found a Title" :D
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression
