Hello
I’m Working in Cubase 12.0.50 and i’m working on project’s that not so heavy and still sometime when i get asio guard overload but when i check my cpu performance in task manager when the project is on play it’s only uses 15-20% of my cpu so how does asio guard is still peaking and my project is glitching and stating to stuck? anyone else?
My spec:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
32 RAM
Windows 10

Thanks Alot !

I never used Cubase nor its ASIO guard but in multicore CPU total CPU usage and ASIO buffer are independent.
You can have 1% CPU usage and overloading ASIO buffer and start having all sorts of clicking and dropout.

Audio thread in most cases is single threads per track. You can have 30 tracks with just a single EQ insert on each track, if you route them straight to the master bus you'd be fine
but once you route them to a "sub-mix" bus before going into the Master out. You can suddenly overload a single core/thread of your CPU and start to cause dropout/clicking artifacts.

As far as I know, all the DAWs currently (even the DAW that advertises excellent multi-core support), each track only can assign one CPU core affinity. except for Master out.
So if you have a lot of sidechaining and like to make sub-bus a lot, you may run into this sort of problem.
