Let's say you want to manipulate (add delay, reverb, filtering, distortion usw to) a kick in a drum beat sample, but that the kick is mixed seamlessly into 4-5 layers of drums/percussion, so you can't simply 'grab' the kick, you need to somehow extract it or isolate it from the rest of the mix.
What do you do?
Danke im Voraus!

copy track, eq heavily, to remove everything over the frequency kick.
although you may lose some of the kicks "click" transient.
do your processing, mix tracks together.
you may need to do an opposite eqing on the other track to remove the body of the kick so it's not extra loud.
another option would be to add a similar kick sample, in time with the kicks and process this instead.

Makes sense. I don't know how well I'd do with the first method, my skills are not so awesome. I've seen some AI tools for extracting specific sounds from a mix, might be worth a try? I like the second method, it's sneaky!
