Another point regarding these HB deals is that it's not, technically, an upgrade. I'm moving my video editing to a new machine, so I'll just keep Vegas 16 installed on my old machine. Not a big deal, I know. I even think that Vegas allows more than one activation, but, whatevs, I like not having to even think about that. When I buy the new copy, I can just install it without thinking about how many times I activated the last version.

In case you want to know what the differences are, it seems that 16-17 introduced a number of useful new features, and 17-18 was less dramatic and more about updating the U./I in small ways. They added the ability to disable some new features so I'm guessing that 17-18 was more about stability than new features. At any rate, I'm hardly an expert so I'll let the expert do the talking.

It was early 21 IIRC. At least that's what my registration says. I found 16 to be more stable than 15, but it still crashes now and then. I get annoyed when I forget to save frequently and do some rapid undo/edit sequence that causes it to get confused and hang. To its credit, it always seems to recover most of my work when I open it next.

Being a total newbie to video, I jumped on Davinci a few months back; yeah, I figured it out but find it a bit of a slog, wading through pro features to find the simple bits I need. Is Vegas comparable from a usability angle? I'm talking basics, transitions, easy titling etc.

Yeah, get Vegas definitely, the Davinci stuff is super bloated if you don't need all of that. Even if you
do, you need a whole slew of hardware to really take advantage of it.

*The Corel bundle has a video editor as well, can't say I am familiar with it tho, the rest of that bundle is pretty nice.

I had various video editors installed but ultimately I had to settle for the one that has everything I need, which is stable but also to space on my C drive. For that, I use HitFilm Pro 15. I created this last year with it... :-)

Thanks. Yeah, the Corel bundle is tempting because I always seem to end up back with Paint Shop Pro for my graphics, current version I'm using is about 15 years old..... :) )

So I got the Corel bundle as I wanted the newer version of painter, even though I apparently bought the 2020 version and neglected to even install it. Anyway, regarding the Corel video editor, imo it can't compete with Vegas at all. It's got some nice effects and transitions, and would probably be good for creating greeting card type videos for your grandma, that's about it really. Not really a very comprehensive video editing tool if you ask me.

From checking out the Trance Anthems preview, I'm particulary impressed with what I'm hearing, but the description of what is actually provided isn't specific enough I don't think. I don't have Spire or Serum.
