Cubase 12. Is it possible to set up Midi Input "Groups"?

As title, is there a way to setup midi input "groups"? As of Cubase 12, it appears that it's "ALL" or just a single one. For Instance
Input routing Choices:
1. All MIDI Inputs
2. Akai Midi Controller
3. Yamaha Midi Controller
4. Sensel Morph 1
5. Sensel Morph 2
I can only pick one of the 5. However, I need to have an input use #4 and #5 while excluding #2 and #3, and there's no way I can figure out how to do that in Cubase (or override from an App on the PC, something like midiloopback that fools cubase into seeing ports that aren't actually there).
I have a *lot* of midi devices and I use them at different times. Some are motion detected which screws up automation when I'm moving around if I don't disable it first. This is a problem for me.
Would be far easier to have midi groups assigned, seems like something that would be so easy (and frankly very useful in many ways) to do, alas I can't figure it out. I'd be genuinely surprised if Cubase (or other hosts) can't do this already somehow. Anyone know if this is possible in some way?

As far as I know, there’s only one “merged” input in Cubase and that’s the “All Midi Inputs” which receives from all the devices you assigned to it in the preferences (by default any new midi input is assigned to it).
It would be nice to have additional “merged input” groups like the All Midi Inputs… I’ll give another look at the manual, in case I misses something, but maybe it’s time for a feature request to Steinberg… this feature would be useful to me, too.

Use 2 or more midi tracks (set to monitor input). You can group* them and/or merge the results later, if you want.
*Select them all, right click, move selected tracks to new folder. You can turn input monitor on and off from the folder track.

I did try messing with Midi tracks however it ended up being a bit too clunky for me it was easier just to just shuffle the default ports around while making recordings.
I also had this response in another thread, will experiment with it today:
If you want to use MIDI channels you leave the MIDI Input Port at “All MIDI Inputs”. Then use the Input Transformer (Track) to filter out data from undesired MIDI channels…

Here I filter out channel 1 and 5. Having 4 different modules available and a preset system I think this is basically what you need.
Again might be clunky however Its not something I've tried yet.
Thanks for the responses, would be so much easier if Steinberg would add a drag/drop grouping of existing input devices to arrange as we see fit.

Shouldn't that be 'OR' (bool)? Wouldn't 'AND' mean that the channel value should be both 1 and 5 (only filtering when both controllers play at once, but not filtering when it only receives 1, or only 5?).Psuper wrote: Sun Nov 27, 2022 4:07 pm

Wasn't that fixed in 12.0.52?Smasha wrote: Mon Nov 28, 2022 5:52 am Midi REmote is broken in the last update.
Let's pray they fix that first.

One other solution is to use a free external app, TransMIDIfier where you can set any number or midi profiles with conditions and filters, and then just use the free LoopBe internal midi to route to your DAWs, disabling all others. TransMIDIfier is fantastic. It's way less headachey that using Cubase's midi Transformer.

That looks precisely what I'm looking for Noiseboyuk. I already use midiloopback which I assume would serve the same functionality of LoopBe.noiseboyuk wrote: Sun Dec 04, 2022 1:07 pm One other solution is to use a free external app, TransMIDIfier where you can set any number or midi profiles with conditions and filters, and then just use the free LoopBe internal midi to route to your DAWs, disabling all others. Will check this out later today, thanks a bunch mate!
Edit: Brilliant, exactly the work-around I was looking for. Still would like to see Cubase make simple assignable groups, but this will work perfect for me right now -- thanks again!
