Analog vs digital summing today

I’ve become curious as to analog summing effects after learning about the concept from a mentor producer’s setup. The threads and info I’m finding online all happen to be at least a couple years old. Are there still any benefits to analog summing that modern summing emulations can’t reproduce accurately/reliably these days?
Curious as to views and any hard data, if available. Thanks!

Moved from Instruments. If you think there's a better fit for it than Production Techniques (Hardware? Everything Else?), let me know.

Well, this subject is highly subjective and myth-shrouded. seems that every mastering studio has developed its own
almost secret philosophy here.
It is true that the "analogue summing" adds a subtle smearing
effect, emphasizing certain overtones - adding an impression
of "extra warmth" and "extra coherence".
Some like that, others really think it's a superfluous "smear effect".
Since this effect is very subtle, very controversial, and whole
myths have been formed about it, an expensive plugin offer has
developed that is entirely dedicated to these effects. And it is
up to each individual to what extent he indulges in these effects
or not.
If you're just looking for "a bit of analog warmth" that doesn't sound
too smudgy but is still comfortable, then I recommend checking out
"Variety of sound". The author of these pages has been dealing
with satiety phenomena almost academically for almost twenty
years. In my opinion, there are the really best simulations of analog
saturation plugins.

You'll struggle to hear the difference made by a cheap passive summer feeding into a clean mic pre. The summers you'll hear easily are the ones built like miniaturized consoles: Neve 8816, SSL Sigma, etc.

Interesting- thanks! So looks like I may be better off, after all, just sending tracks to the analog domain and back to the DAW for summing.
