Initial Audio Initial Slice is on sale with a 80% discount right now.
I watched videos of both.

What is Initial Slice missing so far compared to Playbeat3 ?

Great price at PB ...

I just got Playbeat3 in the sales, and haven't really dug into it yet, but reading the spec on Slice they do seem very similar.

First off neither of them import REX files, so you will have to convert any of them you have that aren't already in Acidized WAV or Apple Loop formats already. Not the end of the world here but good to know if you happen to have some old REX libraries.

I just got Slice because it's on sale for $29 and currently Kontakt has a bug in it's slicing algorithm. I'm not sure if the AI in Playbeat would have been enough to entice me to spend another essentially $50? probably not, I rarely use random generators for beats. I tend to write for bass first then drums.

You often don't actually know what PB is going to charge you until about halfway through the actual purchase process. Their currency converter is glitchy. Sometimes I'll get a different price just from doing a refresh on the product page.

I don't think they're trying to hose us. It usually ends up being less in dollars than posted.

You mean Loopmix probably?
Playbeat3 is a drum sequencer/sampler.
Loopmix is a loop thingie, sort of like Slice?

I bought Loopmix in a bundle.

i think loopmix is simpler

I've noticed that too. In fact, earlier today when I got to checkout I was going to be charged twice what I was expecting. Cancelled, started again and got the "proper" price. Not a big problem really. Decided to pick up Initial Slice while it's £29.00, and got BLEASS Delay for £4.16 using virtual cash & a token. :)
