I may have asked this question b4, but after a long time, I use cubase again and running into this strange thing again.
1. I recordet a vst on track 1.
2. Now I want to record track 2 with another vst.
I only armed the track 2 for recording.
Well, track 1 does not play back any sound.
3. I hit the small monitor button next to the arm button at track 1.
Now it has sound, plays the notes I recordet, BUT
the vst on track on now also responds to what I play on track 2 on my keyboard.
Ähhhhhhhhhmmmmm......
Am I missing something?

So, that does not answer my question at all.
I have recordet a midi tracks with a vst.
Cubase does not play this first track when I want to record a second on.
I have to arm both for recording to get a sound from the first track.
If this question is stupido, sorry.
Anybody has an idea what am doing wrong?

Should work just as you describe: Record something on the first track, record arm the second track after that, press record, and it should not only record the notes you play on the second track, but also play track 1 at the same time.
Maybe you accidentally muted track 1. Or something.

Just so there is no misunderstanding: By saying that you recoreded track 1, you mean that the track has MIDI on it, which should be played back when you record track 2, right?

What version of Cubase Elements?
What Sound card?
Do you know what computer is?
What do you know?

Ok Ok, I see that is going to take a wile.
So I am on Win10, latest update.
Cubase Elements 12.
My Computer is something about 8 years old I guess, dunno exactly.
My soundcard is an USB soundcard from Digidesign, an older on, bought it second hand.
I don t have this problem with other DAWs like Studio one or so..
