I demoed it, troll! Ok, maybe not with a single layer, but for most presets, a single instance of modwave takes up 12-22% (or sometimes a little higher) on my AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (16 GB RAM) when Serum uses 5-17% while Icarus 2 uses 4-17%Atlatnesiti wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 6:03 pmSeriously, you didn’t buy it - trollKorg Supporter wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 5:58 am https://www.korg.com/us/products/softwa ... ve_native/
Seriously, no discount for those who own the other two native ports?! Also uses more CPU than Serum or Icarus 2.

This sounds good, and the KAOSS pad is very nice. The user interface is quite intuitive (at least for me). There's a lot of competition, true, but it's a solid competitor with some unique features.
For the KAOSS pad, I am wondering what a good controller would be? Actually, it would work well with touch surfaces, or maybe a touch pad (hey Korg, how about an option of "locking" the touch pad to the KAOSS pad with a key press, and releasing it after use)? As it is, it's 'just' cc, if I am not totally mistaken from my limited demo use, so the best approximation would be a ROLI light pad.
I just wish Korg had some package deal for users of their other products. I do have the two others, the collection, and even the gadgets, so some kind of loyalty scheme would be highly appreciated...

If there are others like me who love quality presets..

Matt has two. Though made with the hardware in mind they work great with the software too.

Nice synth, I like the Korg sound (have all the other soft synths...) but it is not very stable on my Win10, Reaper 6.71 system with 8700K processor. The mod nobs crackle and clicking or just using the arrow keys on the program presets is enough to crash Reaper.
Edit: standalone is fine, no crackles and crashes

I purchased it ($934 for the HW on Amazon versus $149 for the SW - not bad...) and have not been able to get CC to control the KAOSS pad. CC data controls the performance knobs fine. The manual says the KAOSS pad CC data is meant to integrate with the actual Modwave controller (on the synth itself). Makes me wonder if there's system exclusive midi data being used for this? Haven't played around with it enough, so perhaps there's a way to get standard CC controls to work with it? If you figure it out with standard CC data, let me know....tq wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:19 pm For the KAOSS pad, I am wondering what a good controller would be? The gui is very good, one of the best. But the performance seems to be very poor, I also have crackles on knob movement, even on a M1 pro machine.
Then I really wonder why they did not add additional features over the hardware. So it could be still preset compatible, if you want, but does not have to be. Since the synthesis itself seems to be quite basic: 2 WT oscs, one filter, one WT modulator. I think Vital then is a way better choice...
Only seems to make sense, if you have the hardware, too.

The settings page has a choice of CC's for "Kaoss Physics". I am not in my studio, so cannot check this, but maybe these work for controlling the XY?emasters wrote: Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:35 pm I purchased it ($934 for the HW on Amazon versus $149 for the SW - not bad...) and have not been able to get CC to control the KAOSS pad. Korg and Arturia gets my vote for software company's of the year, they've really came out back to back with quality releases, this is amazing to see hardware company's take this approach. Roland also my hats off to as well, oh, but Yamaha where art thou? I know
u sell boats etc..
Great to see Korg and Arturia take such a lead and bring out out great MODERN gear in the VST format!
OpSix, Wavestate and Modwave,each incredible.

Doesn't look like there will be a fourth installement in the hardware line, but aside that; this is the bold move i hoped for years in the software developement - modern, up to date, digital hardware synths and plugins in unison, but also at it's own - and i didn't thought it would be korg to introduce it.

So odd that some complain about performance issues..
None on my system.. and my macbook pro is from 2014..(this is both standalone and vst3 in cubase 12)
I am sure Dan and his team will get to the bottom of those.
