I use the Scaler 2.7 midi split mode in Ableton Live 11.2.6 by embedding Scaler 2.7 inside Plugin Guru's Unify utility. Works fantastically well. Unify is great even without this ability and I believe it will be on sale on Black Friday. Just set up Scaler 2.7 as a midi effect layer and then put your other instruments you want to route the splits to on separate new instrument layers in midi and be sure to get the midi input from Scaler on the channel that is appropriate. Remember that Scaler 2.7 will send the complete midi stream on channel one and use channels 2-15 to send individual chord notes from lowest to highest.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 5:36 pm Scaler 2.7 out. Really nice new feature in it is it lets you sent different notes to different MIDI instruments. Really useful for separating out notes to drive different monosynths. Doesn’t work in Ableton obviously as that still has the ‘merge all MIDI to channel 1’ stupidity.
It sucks that Ableton can't get this right on its own but I am sure this will eventually be fixed. In the interim, Unify is your friend.

I've been enjoying using VCV Rack plugin (the paid version) to create midi sequencers/tools. Using Midi>CV gets the clock/start/stop from my DAW, and CV>Midi gets the pitch/gate/velocity info out of VCV and into my plugin instrument. Particularly easy to do in Bitwig because of Hybrid Tracks

Yeah, playing around with VCV as Midi mangler since some month now - very promising!
You don't even need Hybrid Tracks in Bitwig - I am just using VCV plugin on a simple MIDI Track and add another VSTi synth after.
I can recommend the paid VCV module "Mindmeld ShapeMaster Pro", which is a secret weapon for generating fantastic envelopes! It has 8 of them per instance.
VCV's "CV>Midi CC" module sends these out as CC which I use to modulate the parameters from the following VSTi...
ShapeMasters randomization options for the envelopes are dope!

If you're using VCV then check out Meander in the library, very good at generating melodic sequences.

Just a quick note that in addition to the drums thing, modalics beat scholar is actually a really nice little generator - just map the drums to whatever notes/scale you want and use the randomizer functions and it can create some really interesting patterns.
It's on sale right now at $49 (half price) direct at www.modalics.com

Converts text to MIDI. Is there anything else out there like this? I did a brief search, couldn't find anything.
