Is there a way to increase the output gain in Tone booster barricade 4 as can be done in Fabfilter L2 ?

I would like to know how the output gain works full stop. I always leave it at zero because I don't understand what it's doing. It seems to have both a threshold and a gain function rolled into one. In the meantime, I use a gain plug-in after Barricade which is of course not ideal.

Turn the gain knob up. The peaks won’t increase, if the limiter is on, but it will increase loudness. This is what it’s made to do, stop peaks going over the level you set and increase loudness.

hum, embarassing, that's not the begavior I stated. If i turn up the gain knob, it increases the level of the sound coming into the compressor and the limiter but not the output sound level ?DMG68 wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 11:44 pm Turn the gain knob up. Choose the Loud Master preset which has gain at 6db. Sounds loud.
Crank the gain up even higher. Output sound level doesn't change but the tune sounds even louder.

But that is exactly the opposite to what he wants.
@Dupont: no there is no way to add clean output gain in Barricade - which I consider a possibly inconvenient ommision. You might want to request it though. Jeroen keeps to constantly improve his products and is very open to (reasonable) requests/suggestions, so there is a good chance that he might add an output gain control to Barricade.
Btw.: there is no Fabfilter L2. There's just Fabfilter Pro-L and Waves L2. (The latter of which lacks an output gain control just like Barriade.)

I was projecting the way I use Barricade, Ozone, etc.
Use a simple gain plugin? Turn up the track volume?
Am I missing the point again?

If you use a different plugin for it it means that you need to go back and forth between both plugins while tweaking Barricade - and to A/B with/without you need to disable/enable two plugins instead of one, which is a lot less immediate - and turning up the track volume is a of course no go because that would mean no A/Bing at all, which is crucial (because louder=better).

Actually I think the "out ceiling" control on L2 is a (pre-dithering) output gain control, while the "threshold" control is an input gain. That's why the linked-controls feature is useful; if you drag them up/down by the same amount then you can listen to gain-matched differences.jens wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 12:54 pm Btw.: there is no Fabfilter L2. (You can do the same trick with the Renaissance Vox and Renaissance Axx compressors by lasso-selecting the relevant controls.)

Yes, fabfilter pro L2 of course.jens wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 12:54 pmrevvy wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 11:16 am Output sound level doesn't change but the tune sounds even louder.

Yes, I use a gain plugin (bitwig tool plugin) but if I want to compare the sound before and after limiting I have to switch off both limiter and gain plugin, not obvious for sound level comparison !revvy wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 1:32 pmOoops.jens wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 12:54 pmrevvy wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 11:16 am Output sound level doesn't change but the tune sounds even louder.

Try the demo of GainMatch from LeTiMix to help with the level comparisons :

I use Barricade,
it has no output gain slider. Only input gain and Out ceiling
Out ceiling only can reduce the output volume though.
Like someone said above, you'll have to turn the volume up in another way.

Yeah that's what I undestoode. I think it is a missing deature. By the way, I compare fabfilter pro L2 and Barricade 4 and fab does a better job at transient preserving.RunBeerRun wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 10:20 pm I use Barricade,
