Well seeing as how Cubase 10 is no longer sold, if you're buying someone else's already activated dongle it wont matter, the activation is already done.
But unless you are a student, you're stuck with that old license and cant upgrade without showing proof.
Are you the guy over at the Steinberg forums looking to run SX3 with it?

I thought the same, Dongel is Dongel.
Download version 10 and it should work out of the box I guess.
No I never messed with Cubase SX:)

Steinberg doesn't allow the resale of educational licenses:
https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-u ... le-Wizard-Resale restrictions
Before you begin, please note the following resale restrictions:
Educational Licenses
Educational licenses are personal and must not be passed on or sold to any other third party or person.

Yes you can, EDU only applies at point of purchase - the license once activated is for normal Cubase Pro. You just register the dongle in your name and you can update from ver 10 easily as the Steinberg wizard just looks for a suitable Cubase Pro license on the dongle to use.mothra wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 9:08 pm But unless you are a student, you're stuck with that old license and cant upgrade without showing proof.

They do not have educational versions of upgrades, which is simultaneously good and bad. You have to pay the regular upgrade price. However, the upgrade turns your edu license into a regular commercial license. I have done that with both Cubase as well as Nuendo.skijumptoes wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 3:58 pmYes you can, EDU only applies at point of purchase - the license once activated is for normal Cubase Pro.
