I started working on a calm beautiful thing that sounds like a mix between japanese fantasy music and Steve Reich! :hihi: Now I like these various ideas so much that I'll skip OSC and make a proper thing out of it without any restrictions. :tu: (Viharmonic Bohemian Violin, all the Ben Osterhouse libraries, Arturia Piano V3, + better sampled Harps, Brass & Wind Instruments etc. etc. 8))
ohh I was waiting your song in the voting list and I read this, I was curious about your creation with your style :D
Hey! :D

I only went through the playlist one time real fast some days ago but heard many great entries! :phones: Unfortunately I will not have the time to vote properly but I will later on ”heart” my favorites on Soundcloud, including yours! :tu:

Voted. Great entries from all.

Since this was an exception allowing samples, why not a monthly contest in the samples forum using only free samples? There's a lot of great free samples out there.

Samples are almost always acoustic instruments. Synths are electronic. The two are very different, but both can make equally great music.

Post

Voted but will tweak again tomorrow.

I'm working on a version of my entry done with BBCSO Pro to illustrate the differences. I'll post as soon as it's done if anyone is interested. Apart from gaining a cor anglias, all of the dynamics are having to be redone which is time consuming. There are a lot more articulations, but I'll probably stick to mostly what I used so as to not make it too different.

Voted, some really great tracks this round, congrats everyone.

Voting done. I will say it again, wow everyone did a great job with the standard way higher than I was expecting.

One thing I was just thinking that might make the competition more interesting (or not feel free to shoot it down). I was wondering if we all got a short music phase in which we all have to include it in our own way (forwards backwards upsidedown etc). I am not suggesting every time too but maybe once off.

We have had a round where you had to design and include birdsong!

btw: My BBSO track is just a series of 4 bar phrases passed around the orchestra with some modified using minimalism "rules" ...

Can't vote. Trying to drag tracks but I keep getting a little circle with a line through it.

NVM. I figured it out. Wow, so many amazing tracks. Didn't know we had so many orchestrators in this forum. :hihi:

Voted - some innovative music.

We did not really liked that everyone was 'ripping off our bass!' :P :P :P
We thought that tracker times were over!

Joke aside: why is everyone that good at classical scoring?!?!

Anyone who's interested in finding out more about how to use the BBCSO Discover might want to check out Guy Michelmore's videos on the subject. Guy is an accomplished composer for film and TV, and also a genuine English eccentric. He gives some great insights into using it correctly. Rick Beato also did some videos on orchestration a few years back. Here are the links to Guy's vids:

Oh, that's very sweet! ResonHeart sounds like some proper fun. Very kind of them! :tu:
From the demos they've got on their site this would make a proper OSC synth, too. Maybe one day this could be something they might consider with some OSC ready demo of sorts? :hyper:
