Are you sure both seek to model the same revision? (And did you try both filters with the Behringer?)

Lots of people hate xfer because Serum is very expensive, never goes on sale, but is super old now. A completely free synth is nearly as good (in some ways better).

How do you expect anyone to take you serious

What I’m hearing is a developer who rapid fires cheap plugins out of a Gatling gun to make a quick dollar on people who don’t care that much about quality or are running older computers. They’re OK, but the bar has been raised and it’s not 2005 anymore.

Nope, I’m saying that I put them up against each other, setting for setting, and the Cherry Audio plugin sounded worse, but at least it’s cheap. Think of yourself as lucky you can’t hear a difference. You can save a lot of money not being able to appreciate quality.

I've wondered this too. I've asked people when they say it and no one has explained it. Is the cv model not able to produce certain sounds or something? Like, shouldn't the "sound quality" be dependent on whatever modules you're using? What exactly defines the overall sound quality of VM?

I'm still hoping to get an answer.

Yeah it's very ridiculous. It's not hardware where there a bunch of manufacturing and shipping costs. And even buying expensive hardware you can sell it. They made a bunch of dumb excuses about why they couldn't do resales, but magically other companies can somehow do it. Just say it's all about becoming more rich and be honest. I'd respect that response.

Personally, I'm waiting on Serum 2 being a free update (or not) before I make a final judgement about the NFR policy (I bought mine before the terms were changed, fyi)

It must be fun to take a quote out of context from the full thread Nice boost to get on your high horse. For those who weren't paying attention in that thread, I stand by my initial critique. That critique was made with the initial public release demo. Later, I opened the project back up and it bugged me to update it, so I did. The lack of high end was no longer there. If memory serves, they did something similar to this before... something about the resonance... I can't remember.

I'm adult enough to reassess something when something changes. If you read my later posts in that thread, you'd know this, and you'd know why I changed my mind. I will admit that I never went back to reassess Mercury, because I'm already happy using Roland's emulation, but when I compared those two, Cherry's was far worse sounding. If they updated it, I'll gladly revise my opinion. (just checked, my demo time is over, so that's that. Dumb they don't just keep the demo active and use noise bursts or something.)

Serum 2 will definitely be free however there is no guarantee of serum 2 as yet (although it is being worked on).

Their Miniverse sounds good and the modular version of it is on sale for just $20. I am not much of a modular user, but that price is making me think again.

$20 is a steal, and plugging it in to VM is free, or (truly) stupid cheap, for what you get, and can do with it. [2c]

No idea. Have no issues with the sound that their synths produce. Own the DCO-106, PS-20 and Eight Voice.
