Truest thing I've read in this entire thread. LOL.

Im not even gonna read all the posts on here. Just seems to be a non-stop argument. Is it any good?

You can pretty much do what BB does with other plugins but the way BB integrates its various parameters results in a unique one-to-few-knob approach. I think this is a plugin that requires a demo first because it's so divisive. One thing to experiment with is loudness matching - I found BB to be significantly less useful once it's loudness matched with the dry signal because BB makes pretty large moves on the audio and there is no gain matching. some people like the added loudness and consider it a benefit of the plugin. you just have to demo it. YMMV

well, while that's comforting in and of itself, i don't think it's a good excuse for allowing the silly face in thumbnails practice, to continue.

Yep, what's annoying here is that the guy actually seems to not even *want* to understand it or try to get useful results out of the plug in. The whole way how this video is set up screams "snake oil", "conspiracy", "all fake", "scandal and drama" in your face. So either he really doesn't get it, and doesn't even try - or he does that on purpose despite knowing it better. Heck, even turning all the knobs and driving the plug in with a hot signal would lead to different conclusions, even if one would be totally clueless...

Regarding the automatic loudness matching - well, personally, I prefer to have control over this myself, despite the added simplicity of an auto matching algorithm. If you are fooled by the added loudness of a signal, you're in trouble, anyway... But I see why others might prefer it otherwise. I don't think it's a flaw, though, but a design choice, no?

Children should be conditioned for such obscenic images by watching avatar of Zuckerberg in Meta ,during their first hours of life. After that, they'll be ready for the worst. Those who will survive this modern version of trial of fire of course.

Wtf has all of the above got to do with a plug in? Ffs get a life

We’re all in trouble.

It’s like the placebo effect - being aware of its existence doesn’t make you immune to it.

What I've learned from reading comments here (and other threats):
* Some people are proud to hear differences where other cannot hear them (trained ear)
* Some people are proud to not hear differences where others hear them (objectivity, do not fall for placebo)
* Some people say that some plugins / instruments / hardware sounds totally unusable where other people say they're really good / even part of the best.
* Many just state what they don't like or criticize something without making it clear what exactly is the problem.
* Only a few go through the effort to actually compare (blind A/B) and compensate for psycho-acoustic effects like loudness.
* Only a few actually provide constructive solutions / alternatives.

⬆️ In other words, as is always the best way, download a demo (if there is one!) and try it for yourself. Form your own opinions. I’ve never bought, or not bought, a vst, instrument or effect, due to someones opinion, other than mine. You’ll always get fan boys and anti-company cretins. End.

Dialing in saturation is a combination of loudness, eq, harmonics and for me sometimes compression and/or clipping. What some people are calling placebo is part of the design. I referred to the plugin as "well tuned" and I stand by that. Consider another saturation plugin like any one of the Culture Vulture plugins or take a hardware analog drive box and mix with it. To dial in the sound you are usually tweaking loudness and fussing with input gain and output gain and other processors to get it to sit right. The BB plugin does take care of some of this and it can be suprisingly effective in doing so. It is a recipe and my ears like the "taste". I can tweak my hardware or other plugins and get there but it is more work and takes me out of the flow. Someone else may not experience it this way and that is totally fine.

I completely accept that loudness with a touch of hair might be the better part of the sound of this plugin in some cases but so what? I don't feel defrauded by the experience of using it. I have compressors in both hardware and plugin form that I rely on that also boost the signal and colour the sound just by running audio through them. Most of my hardware lacks autogain compensation and in the case of the BB the gain is part of the design. Is Universal Audio, Avalon and Neve ripping me off? I am not about to throw that stuff away. I make different mix decisions with them and it is beneficial to my workflow. That is the point.

The test isn't to see if a some preset which was created as a starting point (much like several EQ templates that just have nodes enabled without gain applied) is doing anything. It is to run audio through it, mix with it and determine if your ears are happy and if you were able to gell with the workflow. I did this and found I liked the audio result and it simplified my signal chain and reduced the effort to get there. The dude partially uncovered a recipe and implied that the burger joint is a fraud, the people who eat their are "idiots" and anyone who left a good review was "easily fooled".

I am thinking some of people who are attacking this plugin haven't worked with much hardware. Part of the "magic" of this stuff is overlapping EQ curves, poorly calibrated values on knobs, harmonic distortion and level boosts that were either accidentally or purposely built into the design. This plugin doctor stuff is powerful when used in context and ridiculous when misused as it was here. This dude completely missed the plot. His snark is entertaining though. He does a mean Beevis and Butthead. He should be a bit cautious attacking world class mix engineers and producers though. Some people will do anything for clout. Smash that like button and hit that notification bell.
