Is the Apple MacBook Air M1 2020 model enough for my needs?

Keep your guitar, buy a sturdy PC Laptop if budget is the factor in having both. Base model, 2yr old MBA is not in any way a significant need based on the use case you described, nor worth losing an actual "potentially forever" peice of gear like previous poster mentioned. Guitars will always last longer than computers.

quite agree, but *the unpacked OS takes more like 10% of that drive space.

Cheers guys. Think I'll keep the guitar and just save and sell a few vsts instead.
I really want to go Mac though, just one of those things I've always wanted to do. Getting frustrated with Windows, but that's another topic for another conversation.

I had the entire Logic app and sound/loop content installed on my wife's base mini, enough room to spare, but obviously an external SSD is pretty much de rigeur. I could've gotten by with that setup fine but paid the Apple premium for my BTO. Buy the mba at Amazon, 30 day return, and I believe Apple does a generous demo period for Logic. With external storage, this works. No commitment, either way.

Used Apples are good. The aluminum bodies keep them looking new. All of my Apple's were used, the logic board of my 2013 died after 8 years but my 2011 and 2012 are still going strong. I just got a 2019 MacBook Pro and it's like new. None of the PC's I've owned held up as well.

The M1 Air is a good model, even with the 256GB SSD. The M2 Air 256GB is the one that needs to be avoided.

Hi Uncle E, yes I read about the M2 base models SSD drive being slower.
