So there's a new update with an input gain - which I like, because I often will use the out gain of E.Q.4 before it - but no output gain....

I don't believe so - it's pre limiter. When you jack it up, it just pushes more into the the limiter, but not post limiter.

To me they seem to serve the same purpose. I think it's a mistake (I hope so, at least)

The new input trim should serve as the old output gain, whilst the new output gain should serve as a clean digital output trim.
