Hi all,

I decided to try Slate's subscription but their VMR Plugin, VerbSuite classics and some other plugins are too little on my 4k res screen, so I decided to mail them about this thinking there must a way to resize and I got this back from them:
Thanks for contacting Slate Digital customer support.
At the moment, the plug-ins are not resizable. a large number of users, including us at Slate Digital, use 4k screens without issue. So, the need for resizability has not been moved up on the development team's task list. You could also try changing the resolution of your monitor from your display preferences if it is a big enough issue for you
It feels like I'm the only one bothered by this? How can you see all those knobs in VMR modules clearly without resizing them? And how is this a "good" response from support?

You have to use the OS scaling or scaling within your host to effective double the size or whatever it does size wise. Then you at least see everything as it won’t be so small but it will look like a fuzzy mess most likely.

No you're no the only one bothered by this. Unfortunately there are still many plugins that do not scale on 4K screens, although overall the situation has improved greatly over the last couple of years. Best thing to do is just reply that you will not buy, or continue your subscription and move on. I know it sucks but it is what it is. Lots of good plugins out there, and no real reason why you even have to use Slate plugins.

Yeah, I already use OS scaling at %125 but it's not enough. And when I activate host scaling it gets bigger but more blurry. I won't sub to them again until they make all of the plugins resizeable.

You are right, I will quit the subscription now. And I told them the same.
I just want to have one ecosystem for my mixing plugins, as I did for creative FX and Instruments with Arturia, but I guess Slate Digital isn't the one. I also wanted to try their MetaTune and OTT. Didn't like both of them, so no reason to sub to them at all. I also tried UAD Spark but it also has its own problems, including scaling. I don't know what should I do.

There is no user centred good reason not to support resizable GUIs these days. Its possible Slate has a lot of technical debt and is now critically constrained. If so, too bad they tried to obfuscate the issue. Otherwise what they replied with doesn't make any sense.

I can't say I'm surprised by this response honestly - they seem to have a pretty strong attitude of "well it works for us".

We're talking about the company that still hasn't fixed the longstanding issue where you cannot drag modules in the plugin on touchscreens, despite Slate MT (who I'm aware are a separate company, even if they are very much related...) selling touch screens.

Well, after telling them I will not re-subscribe if they do not make their old plugins resizable with sharp GUI and they will also lose potential customers because of this they told me:

"I was told the dev team is updating the entire product line."
&
"The development team is working on updating the entire product line with 2x scaling, it should be out relatively soon."

That was a quick 180 turn lol.

That's nice they changed their mind, cause they are small even at 1440p

Can anyone provide feedback if they updated the plugins with 2x scaling as they promised?
I don't want to pay $20 to see if they did. I didn't see any news about it anywhere.

When Slate Digital says the update will be out "relatively soon" you can but it in the timeline for asking about in 5 years... they do not think in "months" that would be too fast... :D

Yeah, I sent a mail to support and they said they have made some improvements about scaling and gave me a free voucher to try it out another month, so I did.

It's still the same.

Wow, there I had good luck with my posting... (which was just guessing, of course...)

As I said... perhaps in 5 years... no, just kidding...
I have no idea but normally they are not the quickest ones when it comes to updates... or in general...
