I like it because it sounds good to me. It's one of those genres with lots of mediocrity but some interesting stuff if you're willing to dig past the surface. The supersaw thing can be epic and driving if done correctly. Poor use of it in dance influenced pop in the lates ninties-early 2000 has given it somewhat of a bad reputation. It's kind of pointless to argue that it's "unoriginal," since it's only a timbre. It's like saying acoustic guitars are unoriginal. Timbres are one of the defining aspects of a genre. Using that timbre in a song makes it sound "trancy," just like an acoustic 6string might make a song sound folky or bluesy depending on how its played.

I love them! Mighty, massive metal masters of transport ... belching steam and sparks, smoke and flame... roaring through night and day, hauling the cargoes that keep the motors of industry running! Engines two, three, four strong and more, straining to pull their consists across a continent... alert crews attending to the great mechanical beasts... Ah, I can just imagine people living in tiny trackside towns, glancing up as they hear the whistle's lonesome wail heralding the approach from out of the vast expanses of open emptiness that lie between cities!

Erm. This thread was about whether or not we like trains, right?

Lots of bashing, i think its of no interest in hearing what people find good or bad or whos their favorite artists are, and on top of that bashing their not so favorite artists...
words like repeating, annyoing, same old,, bad, shity bla bla bla... is just words from a made up mind, you can also call it close minded, when you only can refere to artits known/heard by your self, which probably isnt much if you put the whole picture up....
there are often reasons for what you choose to like or dislike...most of the time silly reasons. You are limiting your self, and so you will live a limited life...
but please do not spread your negative thoughts to others... keep them for your self, it just creates more negativity if you spread it around you! if you need something out of your system, go to your self first, then a friend, then a shrink, if that dont work go post on kvr.. have in mind that everybody have different tastes and different backgrounds, what good can it do to share what you think is bad? when you know for sure that someone else will for sure think its good? well sometimes conflicts can be fun, but not about music, those are just pointless..
do you feel me?
ask your self, why you love/hate music?

I remember Simple Minds for the One Upon A Time album back in 1985. They were good.BONES wrote:
Wolfgang Press was funky, Simple Minds was funky, Shriekback was funky, even Gang of Four was funky, none of that shite is.
And of course, their biggest American hit, "Don't You Forget About Me". And even this band hated the damn song.

Hey, don't wanna start any sh*t here... And, I respect your opinion Wopelka, but It always always amazes me when people say this... "trance is boring". Clearly, if you are listening to the right stuff is it is probably the most complex and deep music that exists. It sits hand and hand with well produced ambient, which are in nature very similar. I'm sure someone will argue this, but they both have pretty much the same point to them. Not all trance is dance music, and not all trance is club oriented. They are complex soundscapes, and stories for mind expansion... which is exactly the purpose of ambient.Wopelka wrote:sorry, i was asked.Ackelito wrote:but please do not spread your negative thoughts to others... keep them for your self, it just creates more negativity if you spread it around you!

trance, well trance is ok. I used to like it when it was "new" but I maen about 90% of what I hear now is nothing new.
Same goes for alot of stuff, even hip-hop.
I like to look at it like this, I listen to a hip-hop track from 85, then 95... I hear a major difference in it.
95 to 05, same old shit....
Same goes for trance...
This applies for alot of music. My therory is that its all about money. Once a type of music makes money, all growth and change halts! Who wants to make a "experimantal" sound that most people wont like, and lose money?
There are the few who do this, and they are not famuose, nor rich... LOL
I think trip-hop, acid jazz, and gloomcore.. might be doing better soon.
I noticed alot of hype for NuBreaks as well?
If I had to pick progressive tunes are the best, but still dated...
