Yes, when saving your own patches you can select - but all factory patches seem to be under "sequence" type, which is confusing (although it's very easy to change from seq to arp in Pigments)

Dartelec wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 2:30 pm One thing I would really like to see is that Arturia separates "arp" and "seq" type presets. Now there is huge amount of presets, of which you don't know the type. By "seq" type preset I mean those where the pitch (not just octave) is programmed.

This separation could be easily done either by naming conventions, or by having arp and seq subtypes of presets.
When you save a patch and select "Type/Sequence you get this list:

You can tag a preset as an Arpeggio or Sequence.

I find pre-tagging your presets helps keep them organized such as:

ARP Analog
SEQ Major Run
LED Sweet Lead

I got the €69 crossgrade offer after just registering and getting the free MS20 filter plugin yesterday. That should work for everyone.

Any chances to have bigger fonts in this version?

I ran a quick test on one of my more demanding patches and it appears there is about a 10-15 percent decrease in CPU demand so that's a good thing.

If you guys want to test then try a patch with the old version, note the CPU numbers then install the new version and run the test again.

Would be interesting to see if others get similar results. CPU demand has been Pigment's Achilles heel for me.
Not sure how useful this is, but since upgrading to 4 I've been rendering out pigments to audio noticeably less to save resources... so yeah the CPU usage seems quite a bit lower. I'll run the test later to get some more concrete results.

Regardless of metrics, the lower demand makes Pigments a lot more usable. I loved it as a sound design tool, but for larger arrangements I'd almost always be bouncing it to audio cause the load would get very heavy quite quickly.

Oh yes I've noticed that as well. The CPU demand has been lowered but it's still high compared to other synths running similar patches.

When a single Pigments patch that uses only two analog engines with one Osc each and with a little unison but no FX takes 60% of the buffer meter on a 6 Core 12 thread CPU that turbos at 4.7GHz when full projects rarely take over 40% then that's excessive by my definition.

I do like Pigments and am grateful for the free update including the CPU optimizations but sadly the CPU demand still makes it a synth I can't justify reaching for on a frequent basis since I have so many other less demanding options.

Frankly, I care less about CPU load now that I have my new desktop. It was a real problem on my old desktop though... I surely wouldn't have been able to use Pigments in a track context without rendering to audio.

Gotta say Arturia has really been upping their game. Also have to say that Arturia has really made me glad I have an M1 processor.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

Current CPUs are amazing, it’ll probably be a while until I max out my M1. The bigger problem for some people could be that every Pigments instance claims around 500mb of RAM, in addition to the 1gb of the first instance. If you only have 8gb, it’s possible you’ll run into problems rather quickly.

In any case, it’s a fantastic update. The MS-20 filter is amazing, so is the redesign and all those other quality of life improvements. Thank you, Arturia.

Displaying four new patches I made with the Beta version of Pigments 4, incorporating some of the new features.

:tu: Great quality, huge sound, your imagination is the limit here, clarity and transparent effects, neat interface and finally they add a direct 'mute' of effects and arp !!!! Thanks Arturia. It has gain everywhere and you can push it as the most powerful in your VST arsenal, believe me! It can sound more digital than any other ! but it can also sound creamier and fatter than a Moog ! Long live the Pigments!

Dombaeb wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 3:22 am Really great update, but… What happened with your designer? :) Is he spent too much time on Dribbble? He (or she) collected the cheapest trends in UI design with these pseudo sceuromorphic buttons and stuff… I'm not saying that design is the main deal here, but given that you pay serious attention to this (judging by the rest of your products) Pigments now looks like more a student work…
hard disagree, but you should send your design portfolio in!!

We don't agree with you, the interface and buttons and design of Pigments 4 is superb, modern, fresh and tempting! A jewel of synthesis and current and modern design! If it is not the best current synthesizer engine, it passes it by a millimetre...

I like Pigments a lot, but I think that statement is pushing exaggerations to the extreme.

This is a great little conversational journey.

Anyway, bought the 3 expansions for $20 post-Christmas impulse. For anyone else who was a bit confused like me, you only get that option to buy the bundle if you're logged in. (Someone has said it here somewhere, but it was a lot of pages ago.)
