Thats quite unusual, should not happen and has not been reported, also not during 6 weeks of beta with 25 users. Please reach out to me via peter at dawesomemusic dot com so that we can investigate.db3 wrote: Thu Dec 29, 2022 11:08 am Love this. So rich and organic. Crashed Ableton a couple of times, hopefully a teething issue.

I actually find that Kult is the most organic sounding of Dawsome's synths even though it kind of looks like it is the most "digital".Biome_Digital wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:45 amI found the opposite, after a week of use I know which oscillators to use for thicker, warmer sounds. It is easy to make things sound harsh, just needs careful programming. It is really good at digital sounds, but using small amounts of F-shift and S-shift and nice organic movement. It can do deep warm bass, thick pads, and nice analogue leads well.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 5:11 amPlenty of good ways to warm up a cold sound. I like to run things hot into an analog preamp emulation and dial out a bit of high end. Works like a charm.zvenx wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:28 pm I think he is fantastic with respect to innovation and what some have been asking for, new synths with new methods of synthesis..
I bought Novum, but after the first few days of euphoria, it sounds very digital and 'cold' to me (which may be some peoples thing, just not mine), this and his other one Abyss also sound very digital and 'cold' to me too.
rsp
As you say, a touch of the F-shift and S-shift gives it a pleasingly unstable quality that lends itself to sounding more organic.
I love it.

True, and it is actually very capable of bread and butter type sounds, though I don’t know why you would.kraster wrote: Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:23 pmI actually find that Kult is the most organic sounding of Dawsome's synths even though it kind of looks like it is the most "digital".Biome_Digital wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:45 amI found the opposite, after a week of use I know which oscillators to use for thicker, warmer sounds. I love the Kult. Yeah, that top end is harsh we have filers and RX7. Here are some of my suggestions. Why can't the unique 30+ vco shapes be the lfo shapes also? That would be killer. You can just add it and keep the original lfo so every preset will stay the same. But why not 4 vco? And more random algorithms for modulation?

any commercial preset banks yet?
or free ones? i love the overall tone of Kult.
and the GUI isn't too complicated for a synth that makes some pretty far out sounds.
always up for good presets from others though, saves me shedloads of time in the studio.

Ok, quite a few comments asking for more "bread-and-butter" ( I read that as usable) sounds. So the goal of this Kult soundbank was to make 100 presets that are a little more centred, and less experimental. There's a wide variety and it's supposed to be a kind of "universal" sound bank.

Checking it out now...
The preset browsing in Kult is mega annoying.
Impossible to just run through your ten patches, need to keep weaving my way through the menu chaos.
Say the first 2 presets are Basses, then it goes to Keys - the arrow buttons at the top of the Kult UI will take me to the next Bass preset in some other artist folder instead of going to the Keys within the current folder.
Early days.

I did give some feedback on the browser/presets in Kult and I think there "maybe" an update in the future. I added prefixes to my presets to group them together.sqigls wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:51 pm Checking it out now...

There's an easier way to do this.
If you move the demo bank to the main Kult PACKS folder then you will have a letter above the preset browser window on the right hand side of the UI. Click on that letter (will be the first letter of whatever the folder is called for the pack) and only the presets from the pack will show up, meaning you can just cycle through them.
For me in Windows the folder is located here - C:\ProgramData\Dawesome\Kult\PACKS
EDIT: Just realised that this PACKS folder might not exist in the default installation. I was part of the beta so this is what was outlined by Peter. Hopefully the same method as NOVUM will be implemented, where you just have to drop the bank folder onto the UI and it installs the presets into the correct place etc.

huh? there are filters on the right of the UI for stepping through only the Keys or whatever...sqigls wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:51 pm Checking it out now...

same behaviour in the User and Factory folders, can load the first patch in the bank from the menu, but as soon as the Bass patches in that soundbank run out, the next preset the arrows will select is another bass preset from the factory bank. Not the keys from that bank. Regardless of what is selected in the preset section to the right.

Kult along with Novum (I have yet to try Abyss) are IMHO incredible synths that evoke feelings from classic Roland gear but with a thoroughly modern aesthetic. Kult in particular (because of this thread) offers a tremendous range of tones and timbres.
