Other reverbs like Xenoverb (with freeze)

I'm considering this plug in as it's very affordable and sounds nice.
However there are some limits I'm not too happy with. For example (iirc) you can't change the mod rate, only the depth.
However the freeze function is super useful for me and I've not seen anything comparable.
The price point is important so even Valhalla Shimmer isn't competitive. The only thing similar I've found is Polarity by the same people, which has lots of functionality - but no freeze.
Any recommendations, or have I misunderstood Xenoverb? Thanks

Eventide Blackhole. Polyverse Comet.
Blackhole can be had for 29 € at the moment, if you're quick... https://www.eventideaudio.com/plug-ins/blackhole/ IMO, it's the best of it kind (unreal, spacy and big reverberation).

A bit different, but can definitely give you frozen reverb results:

You should also check out Ambient Reverb by Stone Voices. Shares some similarities with Valhalla Room and adds Freeze. Some of the best $12 I have ever spent on my Ambient Odyssey.

no, i put the vst3 64bit vst file in, but i had to rescan it a couple of times to get it to work.T-CM11 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:27 pmYou put the zip file in your vst folder?ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:21 pm I downloaded it, put it in my vst folder by reaper doesn't seem to see it
Having done so, I'm not really feeling it. Although Xenoverb has some limits, it has a variety of different sounds and textures that I really like so I'll probably go for that. Maybe later, if I need modulation I can look at something else. But it's not a huge issue.

i don't have an iloke account. I can't demo the plug in. Not a question of winners or losers, they set things up this way so that's too bad. I would have to go and create an ilok account somewhere. Do I really want to do that just to demo something?chk071 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:29 pmYour loss.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:04 pm EDIT: blackhole wants some ilok account stuff which I don't have and from what i've heard of ilok i don't ever want to use, gutted![]()

vst3 plugins belong in the "c:\program files\common files\VST3" folder.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:36 pm no, i put the vst3 64bit vst file in, but i had to rescan it a couple of times to get it to work.
The vstplugins folder is for VST2 .dll files.
Maybe that's the reason for the multiple rescans? I don't know, I don't use Reaper.
