Here is the second track I have put together in EXT64. It's another Berlin-school influenced piece, but as with Refactor, I made a decision to avoid the use of Mellotron emulations in order to "update" the sound. It features the use of parallel sequences and a small degree of dissonance.

Recorded/Mixed in EXT64
Mastered in T-Racks 5

Generators and FX

Absynth5
LABS
Iris2 (samples from SampleTank 2)
Reaktor5
ModularV2
Aether
kHs Gain
EQuivocate
Ozone 7 Imager
Satin
Linear Phase EQ
EQP-1A

DR - 10

EDIT: 20230222 - I remixed the track, making a few changes. I updated the EQ on the bassy Absynth that enters at 0:12 to deal with some resonances in the low-mids, centred the low frequencies of the 2 Absynth bass synth patches, updated the sequences of two of the Modular V2 synths, and added some more volume automation. I also reduced the frequency boosts in the mastering EQ relative to the original version.

enjoyed ...
the loose footed timing amid various sequenced motifs produced
an undercurrent that carried the track ...

i did have some difficulty w/ some resonance in some of the mids/mid highs ...
that may be down to me , as i've reason to suspect my ears have not made it
all the way back ... i'll be interested to see of others mention it ...

a good listen ...

Hi seismic1,
Love this recording!!!
Your creativity is hugely displayed in this creation.
Agree with Asuznu, a perfect soundtrack, and really enjoyed the soundscapes you created.
Happy New Year!!!
With love and respect,

Patches of (old) Arturia Modular already comparable to famous DX7 patches hehe.

Edit: good sound actually.

Loving the vibe :)

Really nice. Some parts reminded me of my youth and a computer game. The first "Unreal" from 1998 or so... Don't know exactly why, was a great flashback :) Maybe it has similar sounds in its soundtrack. So your piece would not only suit for film, but also for games :tu:
it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul

Happy to hear some Berlin school sequencing again. Beautiful use of space in the mix. Excellent sound design. The occasional dissonances are tastefully done.

The parallel sequences are a little wonky to my ears. It sort of sounds like a DJ mixing two TD tracks together. Personally I could have done without the parallel sequences as it pulls me out of the immersive experience. You seem to be trying to push this style of music to the edge so from that perspective it is successful.

Abstractor is a good title for an experimental ZZ Top album. :clown:

Overall great job! Happy New Year.

I am very sensitive to high frequencies and had no issues with this mix. In fact, the mix sounds excellent to me.

This is really cool. I enjoyed listening very much.
When the data is corrupt in the Desert of the Real, Beyond the Last Thought, where intuition reigns, is the solace that will embolden and strengthen the soul, giving hope once more to this age of failing technique. eassae.com

Very nice combination of old school and newer electronic styles.
Takes one on an interesting dreamlike journey.

Beautiful track Tim. Like Patch says an interesting dreamlike journey.
I like a bit of Berlin Schoolin' and this certainly hits the spot.
The first lead synth sounds a bit like the mozzies that bedevil us at the time of the year... ;)
Well done!
You have inspired me...

From approx. 6:50 to 17:50 there are up to 4 parallel polymetric sequences running in order to assist the generation of rhythmic interest.

Please let me know which part you are referring to. I was thinking of making a cut between 300-900 Hz for the bassy Absynth instance exposed between 0:15 and 1:35.
