Xenoverb is £17.95 at Plug-in Boutique at the moment and is a “proper one”. It is my favourite for when you are not sure what style of verb you want as you can audition it’s many algorithms without the distraction of too many parameters to tweak and it sounds great IMO. My advice to the OP is to just go for it at that price. They can pick up a free Cherry Audio CA2600 at the same time.

Fair point. I’ll change my advice to go for Xenoverb at that price……..and then save up for a proper one with better control of modulation.Ploki wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:34 pmnot to be rude, but the thread title is literally "Other reverbs like Xenoverb" because OP doesn't like Xenoverb for some reasonSHall1000 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:27 pm

Reading through all this, I don't think there's much of a choice. It's either Xenoverb or... nothing really. Maybe a freeware reverb, if you happen to be so lucky to find one with a freeze option (can't think of one).
I'd just go for Xenoverb, and nevermind the not existing mod rate option.

If GW is happy with a straightforward reverb with freeze then the venerable Sanford Reverb has it. A really nice sounding unit too, I'd say one of the best freebies, up there with Orilriver imho. https://www.lesliesanford.com/vst/plugins/ I'd play with other effects in front of it for more outlandish sounds, Filterjam for example. But nothing's going to touch Xenoverbs versatility in a single plug at this pricepoint.
Actually, didn't Smartelectronix Ambience have freeze too..?

My finances are not for you to judge, comment on, or decide what's right or wrong.chk071 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:14 pm OP said Blackhole is 10 € too expensive, even with the 29 € sale at the moment. So, I guess the reverb has to be either free or in the 1 to 20 € price range.
Which is bullshit, to be honest. Just save up a bit, and get a proper one.

That isn't what I said at all. I think it's perfectly decent, I just wondered if there were more complete products at the same price point. I don't dislike it at all. I prefer it to Valhalla because it can do more, with the different modes and it has a pre delay which Shimmer lacks. However, Shimmer does have a full modulation setup (rate and depth). Both together would probably be ideal.Ploki wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:34 pmnot to be rude, but the thread title is literally "Other reverbs like Xenoverb" because OP doesn't like Xenoverb for some reasonSHall1000 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:27 pm

I didn't judge anything. The budget for the reverb is just not fitting. There's nothing else which does what Xenoverb does in that price range.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 9:28 pmMy finances are not for you to judge, comment on, or decide what's right or wrong.chk071 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:14 pm OP said Blackhole is 10 € too expensive, even with the 29 € sale at the moment. If you don't mind a bit of a personal remark though: This is once again one of your topics which are very viscous. I don't really think you have a very realistic perception of what the audio plugin market offers. You ask too much. Simply said.

I set clear parameters of discourse and your response was to tell me they were bullshit. I'm not sure you're in a position to call my topic vicious. Those parameters are set for a reason, not least of all because, unfortauntely, many people, with good intentions no doubt, ignore them. I find that a bit frustrating.chk071 wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 9:35 pmI didn't judge anything. The budget for the reverb is just not fitting. Whether or not my price point is reasonable is for me to decide and for me to deal with. If there's nothing around, there's nothing around. That's my problem, not yours. NO one is being vicious so let's not go down a rabbit hole, and let's continue having what was a respectful discussion where people pay attention to others' comments

This may be worth giving a shot at $15. I believe it has what you are looking for. Mod and rate control, freeze.

I dont have a problem with your budget at all, yet there is not too much around at this price point. My last suggestion, which actually just meets your criteria because its on holiday sale.

EOS2 has mod depth, rate, predelay and freeze at just 10$ over your budget. (+ some other nonsense)ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 9:31 pm

Nembrini uses iLok, however ... which if I was going to set such low price guidelines seems like it is one place to let up on the restrictions to get more options, but whatevs. Bleass is well regarded in the iOS world and definitely worth further investigation. EOS2 is worth investigation. I have it only on iOS but capable is how I'd define it. Speaking of the iOS world, almost any reverb can be had there within these price limits, including all the Eventide catalog ... sans iLok!
Maybe OP is on the wrong platform, not that I'm judging mind you. I wish all plugins were at app store sale prices. I picked up the entire iOS Fabfilter catalog for less than the price of a single one of their desktop plugins.
