There are currently no plans for Icarus3. However we recently released a huge and free major update (v2.5):

Hi Markus, when I install version 3 can I keep the previous version installed or is it over installed on top of the previous one?

I'm not Markus, but I'm sure he will see what you mentioned here at some point.

and 2 essential things Electra lacks, one is Granular synthesis and multi-samples, among others, the sample editing window is archaic, you can't detach it and it makes it impossible to seriously edit any sample. :dog:

Will the new UI have a better view of seeing the 4 patches we can stack realtime, with easier browsing to add/replace sounds. One thing I never got along with was the constant opening a folder, and not being able to view the patches in realtime.

yeah, good point and also the presets browser should have a vertical window option on the side, so if you are adding a layer to a sound, you should be able to 'pre-listen' other sounds, choose the Layer to copy and paste it into the new sound, without leaving the one you are editing, but maybe they will never program that, the logic of the Devs is always the opposite of that of the users, those who understand that are the companies that sell the most synthesizers in the world, not the case of electra 2  :hihi:

There are currently no plans for Icarus3. However we recently released a huge and free major update (v2.5):
https://www.tone2.com/icarus-update.html
Thank you, though I would like to see some CPU optimization or multicore support. Factory patches take 12-27% of my Intel i7 6560u (16 GB RAM), even when I lower the polyphony.
" Factory patches take 12-27% of my Intel i7 ???

What Preset gives you that? I've been using Electra 2 for years and it's the best VST synthesizer my DAW handles, 10 instances doesn't go up more than 11% (my i7 8559U CPU @ 2.70GHz )...the problem is somewhere else, it's NOT Electra, I assure you that 100%.
My I7 is a 6560U (2 cores and 4 threads), and it's been days, so I forgot which presets. On Studio One 5, I found out that my laptop with that I7 6560U cpu and 16 GB ram can only handle up to 19 instances of Icarus 2 playing Sakamoto Bell at 41 khz sampling rate and 120 BPM (6 voices per instance).

I've checked minutes ago some complex Icarus presets and some of them raise a lot the CPU %, you are right. I have no idea but it's how it was programmed in terms of resource optimization Icarus 2 lags behind Electra 2 which is excellent in this aspect. Hopefully Tone 2 will one day update Icarus 2, who knows...have you tried Warlock? It sounds amazing and it doesn't move the CPU.

That's sad news, cause this synth could become absolute monster if expand mod matrix with modulation via modulation options similar to synthmsters and have 8 layers like Dune with modulation options to interconnect layers...
Anyway happy new year :)
