It's so slick. I didn't know what it all meant initially and was totally intimidated, but it's just a pair of stereo compressors, and there are a lot of tutorials on it -Short ones, too...Danilo Villanova wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:37 pm I've been meaning to try it, the UI looks impressive lol

I am MILITANT about not using waves or "run of the mill" plugins or whatever, but once in a while you get something from the big makers that's just too good to refuse! Nothing even compared on my master bus...

I'll be sure to give it a try, you seem pretty impressed. I also feel the same about "run of the mill stuff". My main EQ is TB EQ4, and my main compressor is Klanghelm DC8C. But the PA stuff is pretty good if you look past the trashy marketing. Opto compressor, SSL channel E, Chandler amp, SVT classic, and Masterdesk all get used here.tmaworks wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:44 pmIt's so slick. I had the hardware unit (500 stereo unit... impulse purchase) and sold it about two weeks later. I was lucky I sold it for as much as I paid for it.
And this is PA, so thanks but no thanks.

It's a good compressor, but here is something you need to know if you're going to use the optical section on stereo signals.
Also, unlike in other compressors, the Reference Level affects absolutely nothing but the output meter reading.
The Class A version has the same behaviour.
I've reported both issues to the Brainworx support. They agreed with the second one, but declined the link bug.

Hmm, wow. This is very disheartening...Vitaly wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 10:39 pm It's a good compressor, but here is something you need to know if you're going to use the optical section on stereo signals.

I just checked what I'm doing on my masterbus and the opto section is actually bypassed completely. So, I guess that's good for me...
Could the opto section be used in dual mono alright then??
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by the "reference section" -Are you just referring to the meters, here?

More importantly, how does it sound?!
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Right, right. Yes - great point. But, if there's something wonky going on in there technically, then I ain't about all that...

Curious, why did you sell it? I currently have the 500 stereo unit. I use it on my master/mixbus chain.escalona wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:58 pm I had the hardware unit (500 stereo unit... impulse purchase) and sold it about two weeks later. I was lucky I sold it for as much as I paid for it.

Reference Level. Not section. It's the setting you can find if you click on the meters.tmaworks wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 11:37 pmHmm, wow. Of course, you can use the opto section in the dual mono mode. And to use it on stereo signals, you could use MS matrix. So, there is a way around that bug. Yet, I believe it should fixed, but Brainworx just doesn't want to see it. Two weeks of email ping-pong with no result...

I discovered something else about it that's a little disheartening -It doesn't seem that the "nickel, iron, steel" section can be disengaged. You're stuck with one of the three, it appears...Vitaly wrote: Sun Jan 01, 2023 4:14 amReference Level. Not section. I got it for free. The interface looks nice but usability and UX are meh.
I tried it several times on different sources and I can't hear anything that would make me want to use it over any other compressor.
Maybe it was great eons ago when it was released but these days it left me unimpressed.
