Gforce never gives any warning but it will come out. Probably next year. I would not expect early in the year but who knows.
I see. I am not much familiar with GForce yet,
quality stuff! great guys too!
maybe not as prolific as other companies, but what they do do, is top of the class.
honestly, cant go wrong with any of them, if you like the original synths sounds :)
That's really nice to know, thanks. :tu:

I don't care much about other synths from them (not to do anything with their quality), at least now, but I am definitely interested in and tempted to buy Oddity3 and ImpOSCar2, as they would add some unique flavour in my synth collection. I have never had any (original) synth hardware, so for me it is very simple as there is no bias, if anything sounds good to me I will get it if I can afford it at that point. I may not be sure of using them immediately, but we all collect plugins during sales, right? :) These days just trying to be a little more mature with my selection though. :phones:

I recently asked them about a native M1 version as well as VST3.. waiting on that response. :) It's running fine right now, but I'm sure I'll experience more efficiency if it was native.

I would love to install Imposcar 2 again but alas, no native m1 versions as of yet that I'm aware of

ImpOSCar is still one of those synths that I use in almost everything. Even if a song is nearly done but struggling to get a new riff to fit in, impOSCar will be one of the few synths that I can get a sound to fit. Good at background sounds, even better at full-on in-yer-face primary sounds. I almost always end up automating that beautiful filter separation...it's unique and still powerful today. I've ended up going back almost entirely to hw nowadays, but impOSCar2 is one of the very few softsynths I still regularly use. Often I'll use it first and build a hw analogue track around it...can't give higher praise than that.

When I wrote this I was under the impression that it just wouldn’t work on an m1 machine, but I emailed support who responded very quickly out of normal work hours and said the AU version would work. So I have since installed it and to echo what Kritikon said, im really glad I did. Can’t wait to see if it gets some updates

I am using the VST version and it does "work" (under Rosetta) but is the AU truly native? My DAW only supports VST, so can't really test that.

Post

No idea to be honest, I’m using Live version 11. something or other, but it’s the version that doesn’t run under Rosetta so assuming so….? Just happy it works, the VST version didn’t when I tried it

Filter separation!!! I wasn’t aware of this. Awesome 😃👍

ImpOSCar is one of those emulations they nailed on the first try so I don't see where a full version upgrade would be necessary. I read somewhere the sound engine code didn't change from Oddity2 to Oddity 3.

Agree that impOSCar v1 was something special and still is. Don't agree that the sound engine didn't change between Oddity2 and 3; pretty sure I read it was updated.
A well-behaved signature.

From support:
A simple port is unlikely, but we are currently rebuilding the instrument for Apple Silicon and VST3 compatibility as well as taking this opportunity to add a few other features to modernise and future-proof it. This will not be a quick process, but we will get there.

Sound wise I don’t think it needs any improvement, it sounds amazing and has done since V1. An updated browser would be cool, although if the plug-in stayed as it is I certainly wouldn’t complain. It was just more in the context of what they did with oddity2 and wondering if they were going to give their older plugins updates

*Edit looks like from the above post some updates are on the way

I literally received a similar message from them today as well. Very promising to hear they are working on it. This synth deserves a 2023 comeback :)

Good to hear there'll be an impOSCar3. TBH I can't really think of any new features that I'd want it to have. I've thought in the past that it would be nice to have a properly self-oscillating filter but it sounds so good already that it's just not necessary. I never missed that back in the day when I had a real one, don't miss it now with a VST. The whole point of the OSCar filter is that it's so musical and within the sweet spot that it doesn't need to make blips and squeals. That's not what an OSCar is all about. I guess they could do MPE shite but I don't use that anyway, don't want it. I wouldn't complain if they upgrade the FX and tack on some PCM81 chorus and delay I suppose... 8) :hihi:. It's one of the few synths I think is already pretty well perfect as is.

Honestly for my old eyes, I would be super happy with a drag to resize function. That large is starting to look pretty tiny for me. :)
