Can't argue with Bitwig The Grid :)

Great !

Well, Cakewalk by Bandlab does not have any synth. :x So I'll wait and see what February brings us. Bye.

interesting. if you don't like your options you could always use this opportunity to trial another daw, even if you have no plans to switch permanently. :) waveform free is also an option, it comes with the 4osc synth and works on any os.

I have to ask the inevitable question on behalf of Reaper users:
JSFX is a plugin format native to reaper, but no JS synths ship with the DAW.

if we're interpreting this as "use a synth that ships with your DAW" then Reaper users are mostly stuck with ReaSynth unless they want to get really creative with white noise generation.

on the other hand, several synths that run natively in reaper are just a text editor away (for example, Humonica, which I used for OSC 155)

There are a handful of other edge cases with this month's challenge that might need clarification but I really love the concept:
• Musescore 4 which definitely has enough playback support to be a DAW but only ships with sampled libraries
• Environments like VCV rack and Bespoke, which can be used as DAWs but also instruments in their own right; how does the "one synth" rule apply?
• as L-EctroBit just mentioned, some DAWs don't ship with synths
This challenge could open up some interesting opportunities for people who want to get really creative with things normal OSC rounds can't allow but i'd like to get some official thought before starting on my epic dance experience made entirely from Audacity's Risset Drum generator

It's time to learn a new daw...time permitting

Lucky for me, I purchased the Reaper/Serum bundle a few years back!!!! Rearum!
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression

I think Richard and BJ may have hit the New Year's sauce a bit too hard last night lol

Quick question. Magix Music Maker has lots of synths ... has midi record and editing. Has audio mixer and fx chains for each track and also mastering plugins ...

Which parts of this are OK to use??? Hopefully all of it ...

What does "go absolutely wild on it" mean? Is anything different from the normal rules regarding effects?
Celebrating 50 years of pants with frogs in them

Commercial FX is allowed, but everything is within the usual rules. I guess it's just a parting word: "Have fun with it!")

Post

I could mess around with ReaSynth ... but probably not. If I get ambitious I'll make something on my phone in Caustic. It has a few decent built-in synths.

Post

Interesting. I don't like Reasynth, so Reaper is out of the question. My most valid option seems to be to reinstall Cubase 9 and go for the Prologue or Retrologue synths. I am tempted to try "Mystic" but I've tried and failed on that synth so much in the past...

Another option would be Waveform free and 4OSC. I've tried Waveform free a little bit but the learning curve will still be quite steep.

But it has a whole Roland sound canvas.. the competition is your oyster!!

I still own Sonar 8.5 pro... so this van unlock great opportunities with eithe z3ta, dimension pro, roland convas synths or even pentagon... which should I choose?
