Gave this a demo. It's a bit quirky. There's a baked in modulation of the amount of modulation depth that only kicks in when the modulation speed is somewhere in the middle, so even when you set a low depth it'll vary between low and higher, as if the tape machine is going out of control. At other modulation speeds it's fine. There's no ping-pong. The diffusion is pretty janky; there's virtually no audible difference for the first 50%, and when it finally kicks in it's a very 'cheap' sounding diffusion. If you already own Valhalla Delay or Replika this has nothing new to offer. Maybe if you wanted something with a little more mojo than your stock DAW delay it would be worth a punt at the reduced price.

Thanks, good review. Dare I say better than Frankie's and a lot faster to process. I was already a soft pass, but this seals the deal. Audio Assault doesn't get a lot of attention here and I have a love:hate relationship with them as a developer. I've been sorting through IRs recently so thinking about them.

I've got a few Audio Assault effects and some of their amp sims and maybe spent $30 total lifetime. As far as price, they punch above their weight class. Their impulse loader aIR has a lot to offer for working with a big IR library, but the plugin can be made to crash on filesystem calls, and needs more QA and debugging. But they gave me a free upgrade from v1 to v2 and it was significantly improved and now M1 native and I can run as a standalone app for the filesystem functions, so it works for me. If they focused on stability and added a few small features, like color coding & more font choices, it could be great. I've also got Headcrusher and Multitransient, which are good little specific tools at $5 each on sale, but still not ported over to M1. Are they the best in their categories? Nope, but feels like they could be significantly improved in the next release with a little TLC and time spent to add a few customer-friendly features. If there is a next release.

Pretty sure it's a team and not a single dev shop. Responsive customer service and I got a very pleasant rapid response when I reached out by email but it was all lip service because nothing has been done differently. I don't like that Facebook seems to be their primary engagement channel. I like that they're clearly continually developing new products, iterating and improving their craft. Their interfaces are universally clean and intuitive, and their effects can be made to sound really good. But definitely a developer where the perfect is not the enemy of the good, which can be a shame. Some products have been deprecated silently (e.g. Dirt Machine). Their file and version naming is a mess, and so is their development workflow and toolchain I suspect. All of that gets me questioning do I want to buy anything else. In this case even for $5 or $10 the answer is no.

From the GUI i thought this would be tape delay inspired, but the feedback is completely clean. This doesn't offer anything new if you already have a bread n butter delay

It's already been said, but Audio Assault seem to be very hit and miss with their products. Their amps are surprisingly good in a "doesn't sound much if anything like an amp" way. It seems like their sound they are going for is amp in room even without the use of a cab. Their take on Decaptitator is pretty decent too, and the first or second version of Dirt Machine got a lot of use here as well. Not feeling the latest release though

Personally I would prefer Frankie to provide his thoughts in his videos a bit more. Watching the plugins is OK but knowing what some one likes or dislikes can give context. I appreciate this is not possible when creators get sent free stuff but if doing shootouts or just demoing with no relationship to the dev I think it adds more value.

I appreciate your feedback. I didn't saw too much on this one, because i just like it, i felt a good echo/delay that sounds good and imo different from other products. If you have ReplicaXT you can achieve these sounds that's true, but this doesn't make this product less interesting (as not everyone have RXT) and echo vibe looks way more user friendly and cheaper.

I didn't received this plugin from developer, i just downloaded the demo and make the review. Even when it happen to receive something from devs i say whatever i think, i'm not an influencer, i hate influecers. I already had very bad discussions with one devs that told me all the awful things an human can say to another human (he was very exagerate), just because he didn't like my review cause wasn't positive, but neither negative imo it was just a bad sounding plugin.
It also happened another company got in touch with me with the offer to send me their products but i had to talk about them in a good way, ofc i rejected.

And i'm very happy and proud about that, i know how it works, i even made a video telling to do not trust youtubers because of that. In that video i even say to do not trust me, because i know to be honest and one of my "mission" on my channel is to make a safe spot where i share my honest thoughts, that you may like/dislike, share or not, but at least it's an honest opinion without any input or bias from companies.

Its just i had watched a few of your videos on here and personally (we all differ) I would get a lot more value out of you providing some more commentary and your personal impressions of the device.

Would you buy this and put it in your arsenal of devices etc, does it have anything not commonly found in similar plugins, why is something better than stock plugins, if doing a shootout what devices would you turn to if given the choice etc. As you say i am just providing feedback on what would make me continue to watch your videos and provide more value for me personally.

No worries i was just giving a more rounded explanation about my "mission" because i know informations are manipulated on certain channels because of personal convenience. That's what basically happen on the most channels/socials, and it's important to me to let people understand that everything i say it's because of my personal opinion and not convenience.
