Maybe it was a hint for IKM
- that would get a lot of good will with users.
PS I see that the quote of my reply has been cut down a bit, so it is out of context. For clarity, it should read:

But, the Syn1 synths do have some newer presets that can use the Edit page. These new presets use exactly the same sample files as the old ones, so, maybe IK Multimedia can rework those old presets at some stage.

It's not possible to have the same editing for the v1 synths as the v2 have, it isn't a matter of choosing not to do something. We're not withholding anything. And yes we have a big new thing like TONEX or similar time to time but our flagships aren't "left as-is" they have been around and updated for decades...

Is there a description of modulation sources and destinations to be found anywhere? Some, like "Zone Pitch," I don't understand. The manual doesn't go into detail, just says "Each modulation has a drop-down menu where you can set the modulation source and destination." I can't find any other resource that might help me.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I too would like to see some more detailed info on the modulation matrix function. The only thing I found remotely useful was the ST 4 clip but its very short and not detailed enough. It would be great if IKM started using some of their marketing powerhouse to show how to use the advanced functions of the ST and Syntronik software.tonycore wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 3:02 pm Is there a description of modulation sources and destinations to be found anywhere? I also found this: https://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/vi ... 12&t=30017 which is pretty unhelpful...but at least we're not alone!

It sure is
- I was asking the questions and posting what my experiments had found.
And then, of course there are the 8 Macros that can be selected as Modulation sources and destinations ???

I am starting to conclude this is one of those things where you just need to spent some time experimenting to see what can happen when you try different things in that window. Sort of approaching it like modular synth approach.DarkStar wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:28 pm ^^^

I don't mean to cast aspersions on your work! It just didn't help me find the answers to my questions. Thank you for any and all efforts to penetrate this sometimes rather opaque software...DarkStar wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:28 pm ^^^

No problem - I did not pick up any aspersions. My comment was aimed at the omissions from the product user manual.

I hope this is not hijacking this thread.
I am using Syntronik in Gig Performer (for live performance in a cover band, rather than recording). But basically you can think of Gig Performer as a DAW for this question.
I am transitioning to a new laptop computer. So, I installed all my sample libraries etc. And I moved the project file for Gig Performer (called a "Gig file").
So Syntronik and my other plug ins seems to work right.
But, in my projects, the specific Syntronik presets are not loading when I load the up project ("the Gig file").
I have been advised that this is how Gig Performer works in terms of recalling presets used in a Gig file:
When you save a gig file, GP requests that the plugin deliver its state to GP - this is a standard mechanism in the plugin API. The plugin sends a chunk of data to GP and GP just saves that chunk of data as part of the gig file.
When you open a gig file later, GP just sends that same chunk of data back to the plugin. It is 100% up to the plugin to deal with it – GP has no control over how the plugin does that.
That said, the plugin can manage state any way it wants. For example, if the “state” that the plugin sends to GP represents the path and file name of some file, then that’s what the plugin is going to be given and that file has to exist in the right place.
But this has nothing to do with Gig Performer. If you’re having this kind of issue, you need to reach out to IK and ask them how they handle state.
So, here is my question: Are the presets used in the project recalled by the ".db file" located (default in Windows):
C>Users>[user name]>Documents>IK Multimedia
I think all I need to do is copy and paste this .db file from my "old" laptop to the same location in my "new" laptop.
But, I am just trying to confirm this is likely correct. That this .db file is the one that recalls presets used in a project. (I have read posts that this .db file is where "favorites" are recalled. So, I would think this is also where presets for the project are recalled. Thanks.)
But, if I am missing something, please let me know.
Thanks!
Jeff

I am pretty sure that that .db file will not contain the details you want.
When you say "Syntronik presets " do you mean the loaded Syntronik synths and their various settings, FX etc? If so, then, as I understand it, all of that info is stored in the data chunk. Most hosts (I do not know yours) store that data chunk witihn the project file.
Double-check that you have got all the necessary Syntronik synth libraries installed on the new system.

Hmm, thanks for responding.
The only thing that seems to be missing are the presets that should be loaded for the particular song (which would be equivalent to a track in DAW project).
I can load the preset. It just does not populate by itself when I open the rackspace (comparable to a DAW track) in the Gig File (comparable to a "project" I think in Sonar).
