Rapid is powerful with many features you describe, but it's not impossible to recreate the sounds so they exist in Hive because it has support for wavetables. It's more to do with the ease with which to create the sounds you want to create. So for anyone looking to do that sort of thing, Rapid would be an obvious choice. The counter-points would be in whether Hive 2 is able to provide more control over the shaping and playback of wavetable-based sounds than what Rapid provides and the ease with which to do so.DJErmac wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 8:15 am Rapid is super powerful. It can do sampling, multisampling, resampling, granular, etc. There are sounds you simply can’t do with Hive.

Hive2 is capable of more poetic stuff:
In Hive2, the bees are busy
Working hard from dawn till dusk
Producing honey, oh so sweet
A Hive of industry, they bustle and bust

Of course there are sounds you can do with both, don’t act fool, we all know an oscillator is an oscillator, but how could we compare something coming from Rapid with something coming from Hive2 ?THE INTRANCER wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:08 pmRapid is powerful with many features you describe, but it's not impossible to recreate the sounds so they exist in Hive because it has support for wavetables. Rapid can produce a whole song at once using its multilayers and multisamples. Hive2 can’t do this. Because it’s not meant to do that.
Hive2 is perfect as Hive2. I love it and the sounds that are coming from it are useful for me daily, and I use Rapid every day also, it’s one of my favourite synths. They simply can’t compare : pepper and garlic when cooking. I love both.
Objective comparison would lead to Hive2 being considered as less powerful because it’s true that Rapid is a powerhouse as it proposes features that Hive2 doesn’t have, and I don’t accept that : Hive2 a great synth. This makes no sense to me, sorry. Don’t make a runner and a boxer compete.

What’s next ? DX7 vs Korg M1 ? Seriously...
When you need one of them, you simply use one of them. Talking for nothing here, sorry my friend, just my humble opinion...
No offense anyway, we’re just talking on a thread. Don’t take it more seriously than you should. We’re having a lot of fun with extrapolation of your base idea. Mocking is not the purpose.
Have a happy new year bro !

I've made a little video to highlight the new visual effects included in a very recent update to Rapid. It's rather cool, and whilst Hive does have something similar, Rapid v1.8.7 takes things a bit further.
And oh wait... isn't that one of the interfaces I gave away ? I'm going to have some pie and burgers, cause making videos make me hungry.

Well I can talk, but I'm not sure how well Rapid can do speech resynthesis, but it would be interesting to explore. In fact let's look... it's to be noted that Hive can actually talk as well apparently.

Besides refining my rather long opening essay to read better, I've added a screenshot above it showing Rapid using the Reshader utility, and for anyone wondering, it doesn't work with Hive 2. It's all rather fun to play with as it slowly pulsates as if you have just walked into a nightclub in Amsterdam.
