I've got the preamps -All I need is a rack unit or something with 20 line ins/ outs and I'll be good. Doesn't seem like they make a unit that resembles that, surprisingly. Everything is either combination jacks or some large mixer thing that I really don't want to own (mackie onyx 24 -has all the line outs and onboard pres...).

A beautiful unit here that only goes up to 16 channels, unfortunately. I, also, think it might be discontinued: https://cymaticaudio.com/product/lr-16-live-recorder/

I don't want to do ADAT... There's gotta be something out there?? There are soo many old mixers out there going for cheap, but I don't know that I could get more than a stereo mix out of them... If push comes to shove, I'll get the mackie...

*Edit: The Mackie would actually not work for more than 15 i/o's if I'm not mistaken...

MOTU 24 AI + 24 AO seems like an elegant and compact option; I don’t have any experience with them though.

Highly recomend MOTU. Been using an ultralite for 13 years..

I'm seeing that unit sold on reverb - Do they make it anymore?? Looks like exactly what I need...

*EDIT -Looks like it needs firewire. Hmm... No idea where to start with that... Neither of my laptops appear to have that feature. Also, I'm running on windows ten... might it work on that??

*Edit *Edit: Apparently you NEED the PCIE 424 card to make this unit functional. The card sells for 200 minimum on ebay -Cheapest I've seen...

How many channels are you running??

Normally one at a time nowadays but used to run all 14.

Cheapest way to get 20 I/O's WITHOUT ADAT?
