Can I get SFZ to play/loop a sample when I input a chord ?

Post

Every SFZ-sampler plays the sample or the sample-loop if you
press a key. :wink:
free mp3s + info: andy-enroe.de songs + weird stuff: enroe.de

If you want to play a sample when a specifc chord - in other words, three or more specific keys - is held down, but not play a sample for just one key, I thiiink the answer is no but you could try doing some testing with multiple sw_down values defined for a region. However, I think that would just leave the one sw_down value actually used.

If I use it in Reaper or reajs vst in another DAW I can add a JSFX before it to send 1 note out from a chord.

How do I set the bpm of the sample rate so it plays back at the same tempo as the host when I'm looping the sample ?
I can get it to start on the beat with sync_beats=4

Are you looking to play one note, and get SFZ to play a chord (multiple notes)?
Or do you want to play a chord, and… get a chord?

In your more recent post it kind of sounds like you want to play a sampled loop back, and have it match the tempo of your host?
SFZ doesn’t have any kind of time stretch, so it’s not very well suited for the chop-and-loop crowd. No BPM setting anywhere. The only way to change the tempo is to go old-school and play it at a higher or lower pitch, easiest done by just playing it higher or lower on your keyboard.

The sync_beats opcode is there to delay the start of your sample until the next beat division. So if you hit your key a smidge before the beat division you specify, you’ll get silence until that beat arrives.
Generally you can just quantize your note triggers to the beat and get the same result.

Yes just want to input a chord and it play some strumming in that chord.
I look everywhere for set bpm so I didn't think it could do it.
There's only play if host bpm match.
I can't get
sync_beats=4
sync_offset=0
to work it still changes right away rather than waiting for current bar to finish.

I suspect SFZ is the wrong tool for the job, when the job involves matching tempos and synchronizing to bars/beats. That's what tools like FruityLoops are for. My guess is someone probably makes a plugin to do what you want. Try looking at the MeldaProduction line of plugins -- they cover a lot of bases. (Not free, though.)
