I own VSM-3 and would demo Reviver, but my demo expired around 7 years ago.
Vertigo VSM-3 vs. Fielding DSP Reviver

Both of these seem to do kinda the same things. Anyone have any opinions about how they compare?

And you used the same machine back then as you do now?

Honestly, VSM-3 gives so much more control over your tone shaping capabilities in the two "bands", and overall with the entire signal. Reviver is 100% less fiddly though, but it's very restricted in how it affects the signal, essentially adding only 2nd or 3rd harmonics.
That being said, I sold my copy of VSM-3 but still use Reviver on a regular basis...

Why so? Ease of use, sound quality, ... ?SNBeatz wrote: Tue Jan 03, 2023 2:12 am That being said, I sold my copy of VSM-3 but still use Reviver on a regular basis...

Go and download airwindows pafnuty and just use the second and third harmonic from that (or go crazy and use all of them). they are based on the same core algorithm.
as you don't have reviver anyway, this won't be that much help, but someone did post elsewhere how the settings correspond between the two:

Reviver just adds second and third harmonics , vsm does a hell of a lot moreJerGoertz wrote: Tue Jan 03, 2023 1:59 am Both of these seem to do kinda the same things. Anyone have any opinions about how they compare?

If you have Reakor , here's an ensemble I made a few years ago , up to 10 harmonics using chebyshev polynomials and some clipping to go really overboard

100 people would give you 100 opinions. if you have the GAS, just buy the damn thing....JerGoertz wrote: Tue Jan 03, 2023 1:59 am Both of these seem to do kinda the same things. Anyone have any opinions about how they compare?
That is the sad part of this (dead horse) industry : I can point my finger at any direction and come up with so many alternatives, you'd be lost in a minute. you could add to the suggested tools above Christotion (tho 32bit only), HoRNeT Harmonics PRO, Melda's free MEqualizer... and those are just three from the top of my head. with a LITTLE digging, I can go on and on and on. oh... but wait ! you'll have to compare them. and take them to examination at the Doctor's. then, come back and debate your results.JerGoertz wrote: Tue Jan 03, 2023 1:59 am I own VSM-3 and would demo Reviver, but my demo expired around 7 years ago.![]()

AirWindows Pafnuty does exactly what Reviver does as a free option.
VSM3 and Reviver have nothing in common though soundwise. I am guessing you just saw the dedicated even and odd harmonic sections and assumed so

To the people recommending pafnuty: Is the sound quality as high as Reviver? The promotional blurb for Reviver makes a point about it being free of aliasing (or very low).

It's just a Chebyshev based waveshaper. They can make all the claims they want, but it doesn't change what it is.JerGoertz wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 12:15 am To the people recommending pafnuty: Is the sound quality as high as Reviver? That's cool, I already have it and didn't even realize these algorithms were therePloki wrote: Wed Jan 04, 2023 8:52 am Tone Projects Kelvin also does 2nd + 3rd harmonic only. (They’re two of the 10 algos)

Okay, it sounds like I'm good with pafnuty and (probably redundantly) Kelvin.TIMT wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 3:18 amIt's just a Chebyshev based waveshaper.
