Is this still being developed? There was a flurry of activity back around the initial launch and then no new releases for over 2 years now. Never a good sign.
I've gone back to re-evaluate the available IR loader / Convolution options and today I can see some attractiveness in the organizational tools that fairmageddon offers for managing an IR collection - stars, color coding, custom pictures. Unattractive still are the price, the crashes when demo'ing, the CPU load, and the poor maintenance schedule.
Also, what are the limitations of the demo? They don't seem to be documented anywhere I have found.

I've been in contact with the devs regarding a bug I found and they're working on that so the tool is still 'being developed'. It seems to be indie-style somewhat slow going though. I can't remember any demo limitations, doesn't it just time out?
I've gone through a ton of IR loaders and imo this one is by far the best for organizing and applying a collection of significant size. You can favorite, rate, merge and tweak your IRs like no other tool I've seen so far. As I mentioned in this thread already, I find there's a crispness to the IR-mix results that I don't get with other IR loaders, which often end up with a slightly mushy attack. I previously honestly thought was just part of the process of mixing IRs. Going by their other tools they seem to be very knowledgeable in the area of phase management and sample alignment so it's probably that.
As far as simplicity goes the TH-U Supercab module is a quad-IR loader that lets you eq and tweak and export the result much like faIRmageddon. But you're stuck using it in TH-U and the browser is just a file browser.
I'm frankly quite blown away by mCabinet too because it can analyze an entire folder and output an 'average' IR, which honestly turns out just as good or better than when I spend an hour mixing and tweaking several IRs. And then you can tweak and mix 16 of those (or just 16 regular IRs). But the idea is to keep the IRs under the hood after you're done creating a preset and just use the cab models, so that may or may not be your thing. Here, again, the browser is just a file browser.
So the bottom line is I haven't found anything better than faIRmageddon for managing and using a collection of IRs, but unless you're desperate I'd wait for another sale because of the caveats you mention. If you're just looking for a IR cab loader/sim in general I feel mCabinet is really on another level, conceptually, from anything else I've tried. But you may or may not like that concept and it's certainly not geared at all towards managing or even browsing your collection.

Thanks for the insights. I understand the process of pushing to get v1 out (and then losing momentum after) is a likely outcome for an indie developer, but a regular cadence to releases beyond every 30 months would inspire more confidence. Nothing new on Youtube or Facebook either, so the lack of updates is across the board and not limited to product fixes.
The audio unit seems most stable option on my intel mac where I'm testing, so have that installed in demo mode. There is a small note in bottom center when I run the demo that says "save & load and automation has been deactivated" but that's all I can find to explain the limitations.
I played with the Compare section in the Workbench, and I figured out how to add images to IRs. Haven't quite delved into the EQ match. It does seem to offer the most bells & whistles in an IR browser that I've seen. I'd prefer some more UI flexibility like if the "workbench" (bottom third) could be expanded to take up more of the screen and maybe lose the X/Y Pad and shrink each of the A-B-C-D slots to half height. Just as an alternative screen arrangement would be nice, with more room for file browser. But that may be a pipe dream. It's functional enough and better than any option I've yet found even as-is.
Not looking for an IR cab loader but more an IR collection manager. Less than half of my IRs would be guitar cabinets. I have an Early Access license to fairmageddon that installs on an earlier version with less features but no restrictions, so I guess another way to demo. Mostly what I want to do is A-B or A-B-C from my IR collection but then be able to rate the results and categorize. The stars and colors get that. The pictures are a handy touch. Seems like the 1.0.8 demo doesn't limit me on those things but I'll play a bit more. The 0.97.11 early release lacks that whole Compare section of the UI.
It might serve my purposes in demo mode. It has potential but I can definitely wait for a sale, and a few more releases to illustrate that the devs are maintaining, with M1 support added to build in some future-proofing. The demo version of the plugin phones home periodically, but didn't seem to fail when I blocked it. Does the licensing need online access at all times?

I'm afraid you'll have to ask the devs, I'm on windows so I just need bug fixes.
It seems exactly what you're looking for though and if there's anything else like it, I'm not aware of it.

The demo mode doesn't load settings. I know they're working on bug fixes if reported (though I didn't experience any; workfow/small UI improvements would be welcome though), and also develop new plugins (been in contact with one of the devs on fb). M1/M2 compatibility seems to be high on the todo list.
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.
