Looks mostly like little fixes.
And do LCD monitors still have vblanks?
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Man, why some people are so obsessed with Rapid updates? It's really an obsessive compulsive disorder for some here. It's been updated just a couple months ago, just enjoy it and go make music with it, really!

That sort of reasonable commentary isn't welcome here!Neon Breath wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 3:40 pm Man, why some people are so obsessed with Rapid updates? I don't think it's unreasonable to discuss how often a synth gets updated.
Some people find more value in an instrument that is frequently updated, and some people have no problem with those that work great and have minimal updates. Maybe we sometimes get spoiled by devs that frequently add new features, but if someone decides that those are the ones they want to spend their money on, I can't tell them they're wrong.

It’s not that it is unreasonable, it’s because some people really seem to obsess about updates for this particular synth, go read older Rapid threads, one even has been closed because it derailed.

If you are concerned about constant updates, then you shouldn't buy any software at all. It's all roses and uodates until it isn't. Linplug decided to call it quits one day. Humanoid Sound Systems decided to call it quits one day. Even some devs have suddenly passed away. If you want the software, make sure it currently does what you need. There's ZERO guarantee of further updates. Read your EULAs. End if story.

Good advice! A friend of mine brought to my attention the Filmora (video editing) issue where "lifetime license owners" were being as to pay for updates. I had to laugh... In their case they caused an up-roar with Filmora who back-tracked and are now providing free updates again. For us, we just move on from these disappointments because it's too much wasted effort. Many of us have learned many a lesson...syntonica wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 6:48 pm If you are concerned about constant updates, then you shouldn't buy any software at all. I take a different approach..
The Vst developers market is a very competitive market, and one of my two platforms is a mac.
I see it as an investment (not in the sense that I expect to resell it) but that this will be a tool that 5 years from now I can still most likely use if I so choose and as important for me, I can open projects from 5 years back that used it and they will open fine.
If I don't get the sense that that will happen, there are other developers I would much rather purchase from.
The future is not guaranteed but I am not going to go in blindly, I am going to do some due diligence (and yes how often they have updated is part of the algorithm for me) cause I will have some expectation of continuation of upkeep if not the development of the software before I purchase license for said software.

Throwing the term OCD around is out of place here, because it's a mental condition that can be truly debilitating for some people that affects their everyday life, (not talking from personal experience), and in case you didn't know, the dev was asking what people were wanting for the synth in terms of updates on a synth that hadn't any for almost two years of which there's been next to nothing in communication since then. It's no different from people being excited about the latest updates to U-HEs Hive, or updates to the DAW they use, and in the case of Rapid it's no different because updates to Rapid were significant and with a steady flow of them. The signs show that Parawave is, smoothing out the wrinkles that Rapid has, and have a bit of momentum going to bring the things people are asking for in hopefully the same continuity they had before. That's not to say that people won't enjoy the existing version as it is, they most probably will unless their expectations don't match up with their requirements.Neon Breath wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 3:40 pm Man, why some people are so obsessed with Rapid updates? Easy easy, that's just a way of talking my friend, just like when someone says 'Can't you see it? Are you blind?' the idea here obviously is not to attack a blind or a visually impairment person. If that offended you or anyone, know that it was not my goal to attack anyone. Not my style at all.THE INTRANCER wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 7:41 pmThrowing the term OCD around is out of place here, because it's a mental condition that can be truly debilitating for some people that affects their everyday life, (not talking from personal experience)Neon Breath wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 3:40 pm Man, why some people are so obsessed with Rapid updates? Anyway, as I said previously... Rapid threads tend to always derail, for some weird reasons. I just hope this won't. So I'll stop here and leave the conversation as I really want this Rapid thread to stay open & alive for further more discussions about the synth.
Peace and out.

Wow! Just read through the thread. First of all, thank you to the Developers for such a beast of a synth - truly amazing! Everything, the possibilities with the layers, LFO's, Envelopes - pretty endless. I have Avenger, again 8 layers but so tired with their patches which leave little space for users - (if you don't understand I will elaborate). I also have Dune, which I love too, but a particular sound that lends itself to a particularly dark style (my opinion). So, Rapid has so much versatility in the mix, I applaud the Dev's for its ubiquity across the sound spectrum. and so fast to program. Yes, the filters and digital - but excellent to my ears (Diva is digital too, beyond the hype). As you can tell, I am a fan and just wanted to balance the discussion.
