Hi Everyone. If you missed the kickstarter, you can still get on board for the second wave that will follow close behind. Email me at jnolan@ryerson.ca with your real name, country, and what you want, and we'll send out payment information mid-october.

I’m considering ordering the PDF. I didn’t include it in my order. I paid for the book, stickers and magnets.
I’m guessing that book might helpful for Jamuary.

i can't say for certain if the patches are of use as ive only had a quick skim of the first couple of chapters, mainly about gear and the key for the symbols used in his diagrams, which leads me to, one thing it will be useful for straightaway, is writing out patch diagrams in a shorthand manner!elxsound wrote: Wed Jan 04, 2023 6:23 pm I’m considering ordering the PDF. although they will leave the final patch open to some interpretation, as eg an oscillator is just a circle with the oscillator shape in it, but thats more than enough for me as it's the ideas im interested in, so when im on the bus if i get a patch idea that sounds like it might be fun, note it down then worry about the details at home.
previously ive been writing module name, and wave and so on taking whole pages to write a simple patch

Understood. I’ll wait for the book then as I have a feeling I’ll get distracted (and I probably dont need more distractions).vurt wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 6:08 pmi can't say for certain if the patches are of use as ive only had a quick skim of the first couple of chapters, mainly about gear and the key for the symbols used in his diagrams, which leads me to, one thing it will be useful for straightaway, is writing out patch diagrams in a shorthand manner!elxsound wrote: Wed Jan 04, 2023 6:23 pm I’m considering ordering the PDF. I ran out of time yesterday and posted my worst last night, but it was bound to happen (posting trash). I should have kept it simple but I thought I had an idea before I couldn’t trigger 0-Coast or mmMidi with midi for some reason.

im not saying it wouldn't be helpful, but there's a fair amount of reading and such too, and my worry is if i start reading, ill go in to study mode, then only start the patches after ive read through once. so it may well get in the way if i start.
otherwise id have printed out the first few chapters to read when im down here and only gave my phone available for a pdf.

I would do the same thing, so a good reason for me to just be patient.vurt wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:03 pm

I’ve got some learning to do, to better just go with the flow, I trashed a bunch of things that sounded better than what I posted. But… That’s pretty much the reason why I want to keep up with it. There’s lessons to learn that I hope will help moving forward.vurt wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 9:24 pmi imagine ill end up with a few dodgy bits

yeah, ive taken it as an opportunity to try some of my lesser used modules, although the make noise and cre8audio stuff will probably feature too, theres bits ive neglected a little since getting the desktops, and also just trying new patch ideas.elxsound wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 9:28 pmI’ve got some learning to do, to better just go with the flow, I trashed a bunch of things that sounded better than what I posted. i know some nights it will just end up being "wrong" but as you say, its something to learn from, and a record of the failures as well as the successes will help imo
doing it straight to youtube helps too, maybe if i was recording then uploading, id hold back?
not sure how many ill get done, but hopefully around 20 for the playlist would be a success in regards "completion".
and tonight, as well as the jamuary, i used the patch to then record something long form, so im getting something out of it already

I like books too, but I’m getting the feeling we might be an aging group.
