I canceled because of that. I reached the max total of 10, and they were not launching anything new, as was written above. Therefore, I had no reason to keep paying for something to just use what I already had for life.Caine123 wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 11:22 pm Guys, what shall i do? afaik there is a 8 or 10 limit cap for having lifetime licenses, this year in february i think starts the year of my cloud where i would theoretically get +2 more instruments, but i cnanot get them cause of the cap. what bullshit idea is this? to cap it? or am i misunderstanding it? otherwise im gonna cancel my subscription as this is totally bad practice.

That's noyt what they told me (via Support). I was subscribed since the first year, and they told me that once I reach the 10 limit, it's over.PAK wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 9:33 amCheck your RC account details on their website. IE Using their offers, the maximum is 10 via Loyalty Rewards and 10 via Play 4 Life (total of 20). But you'll only have qualified for Loyalty Rewards if you signed up prior to 2019 (afaik). So, unless Roland changes the limit, the maximum is 10 for any accounts which joined in the past 4 years. Let's see if they expand this, next year, when those accounts reach their limit of 10 (if subbed with Play4Life at Ultimate level)![]()
If what you say is true, it's another example of the LAME support and LAME method Roland has of doing things, constantly changing rules.

They shouldn't really be so half-assed about the lifetime licenses. I mean, I get it, they want you to sub, but, that's just BS. The lifetime keys are too expensive, and now I learn that there's even a cap to how many you can own in total. Oh boy, Roland.

I know. You didn't miss anything. I was under the impression it was 10 too. But then it wasn't..fmr wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 10:19 am That's noyt what they told me (via Support). I was subscribed since the first year, and they told me that once I reach the 10 limit, it's over.
As said, nobody should be too surprised if the present 10 limit is expanded within the next 12 months, since some of the 2019 subs will be hitting their limit of 10. Otherwise I guess we'll find out how much users are happy to pay for rental only
EDIT: Just to clarify the limit of "10" relates to their Loyalty Rewards and Play4Life offers. If you buy the "Life-Time" keys directly there is no limit.

One of the things I was really pi... about was when they came out with Zenology Pro, and when I asked if that was include in the Play4Life, they said: NO. WTF... What's the reason why anything elkse is included, and that itn't? That's when I decided that, as soon as the 10 limit is reached, I would unsubscribe.

I agree it’d be good if they made Zenology Pro available as a lifetime instrument, maybe make it count as two choices rather than one to reflect the increased instrument price.

As the "new" platform, Zenology was likely viewed as an opportunity to move back towards the original goal of rental (thus excluded from lifetime offers) and kept quite expensive otherwise, so as not to interfere much with potential hardware sales.fmr wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 10:45 amOne of the things I was really pi... about was when they came out with Zenology Pro, and when I asked if that was include in the Play4Life, they said: NO. Speaking of which, to buy, if going the Zenology Icons Bundle route, with the 15 EXZ's, you'd (checks) come out at $798.85. The alternative 5080 route, with the 10 SRX, is $828.90. So their pricing isn't as "random" as it seems sometimes.. You pay roughly the same regardless of route chosen.
If someone wants to add the Zenology life-time keys onto their 10 Play4Life keys, Roland won't have left you with much change from $2,000. At which point, some might question if they should just have went with their hardware. I doubt any of this is by accident..

So about 7% of the price of a second hand Jupiter 8?

Thank you. You just reached my point... that their pricing is completely out of hand, and doesn't make sense, when compared with the competition. If they chose that path to not interfere with hardware, I think they need to rethink their approach. Software customers are hardly the same as hardware customers, IMO.PAK wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 12:09 pm Speaking of which, to buy, if going the Zenology Icons Bundle route, with the 15 EXZ's, you'd (checks) come out at $798.85. That's why I just picked the emulations, and left.

He's 100% marketing, so i'd wager he's terrified to say anything since Roland's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing when it comes to lifetime keys (Play4Life, Loyalty, or Lifetime or whatever the new marketing term of the moment is).

Well, I don't blame or pick on the reps. I'm glad they're here, and at least can feed a bit of first hand information to us users. All that I'm saying is that I consider it a mistake to try to lead everyone to the sub. Some of Roland's virtual instruments are interesting to me, but, I won't do subscription, and the lifetime keys are too expensive, and the fact that there's a cap on how many keys you can own in total is a mistake in my eyes as well.
'nuff ranted. As a customer I don't have to buy everything, especially when it doesn't appeal to me.

The really tripped out thing? I have given Roland Corp faaar more money in subs and (lifetime) keys over the past 5 years than I *EVER* did buying actual Roland hardware back in the 80's/90's.
