All that I'm saying is that I consider it a mistake to try to lead everyone to the sub. Some of Roland's virtual instruments are interesting to me, but, I won't do subscription, and the lifetime keys are too expensive, and the fact that there's a cap on how many keys you can own in total is a mistake in my eyes as well.

'nuff ranted. As a customer I don't have to buy everything, especially when it doesn't appeal to me. ;)
Play for life gives you one year to demo all their plugins and either get one or two licenses for $99 each. That seems like a good deal to me.

That said, keeping one or two licenses only applies to the Legendary Roland Instrument collection. These annual sales are how I got most of my perpetual Roland licenses (all Legendary stuff, and all stuff that are ACB so I can load them onto my System-8).

*EDIT: I take that back - I did switch out to the JD-800 the last time - it was just too cool (for me) to pass up.

Hi, friends. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I see that we have a few outstanding questions, so let's take a look.

He's 100% marketing, so i'd wager he's terrified to say anything since Roland's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing when it comes to lifetime keys (Play4Life, Loyalty, or Lifetime or whatever the new marketing term of the moment is).
As of the new year, I have moved to a new position with the company, so while I am still assisting with customer support, I will primarily be working on other issues relating to our digital products. I am always available if you reach out to me direct, but please remember to be respectful. We are all music fans at the end of the day.

If you need technical assistance with Roland Cloud, just reach out to us through the Contact Support portal in the lower left menu of Roland Cloud Manager and we will take care of you. Our Support department is very responsive, but there's only one of me working on service issues across multiple social channels, so that Support portal will be your quickest path to resolution.

Caine123 wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 11:22 pmafaik there is a 8 or 10 limit cap for having lifetime licenses
Check your RC account details on their website. Any plugins, listed under the legacy "Loyalty Rewards" program, have their own limit of 10 which doesn't count towards the Play-4-Life limit.

IE Using their offers, the maximum is 10 via Loyalty Rewards and 10 via Play 4 Life (total of 20). But you'll only have qualified for Loyalty Rewards if you signed up prior to 2019 (afaik). So, unless Roland changes the limit, the maximum is 10 for any accounts which joined in the past 4 years. Let's see if they expand this, next year, when those accounts reach their limit of 10 (if subbed with Play4Life at Ultimate level) ;)
They shouldn't really be so half-assed about the lifetime licenses. I mean, I get it, they want you to sub, but, that's just BS. The lifetime keys are too expensive, and now I learn that there's even a cap to how many you can own in total. Oh boy, Roland.
To clarify, all users can now receive up to 10 reward instrument Lifetime Keys through the Play 4 Life promotions. If you were a part of the Loyalty Program, which closed on 12/13/2018, you could earn an additional 10 reward instrument Lifetime Keys from that separately.

We offer single purchase licenses, called Lifetime Keys, for all of the instruments and expansions available in the Roland Cloud Collection, so if membership is not for you, Lifetime Keys are the way to go. The difference is that the cap only applies to "reward instrument Lifetime Keys." If you want to purchase Lifetime Keys for all of your favorite instruments individually, there is no cap on ownership of those keys.

This is where membership becomes valuable, because you can have access to the entire collection, including all of our Legendary Series, AIRA, SRX instruments, plus ZENOLOGY Pro, all of the Model Expansions, artist-curated Patch Collections, Sample Packs (which you can own forever), Jam Tracks, all SDZ Sound Packs, and more for as little as $19.99/mo.

If membership is not for you, by all means check out the Lifetime Keys and own your favorite instruments. If you want to try it all and have access to the entire collection, without having to pay for everything all at once, membership access is the way to go.

We want everyone to have access to the sounds, so we offer multiple options to best fit your workflow. It's up to you to determine the best fit based on your system and preferences.
WatchTheGuitar wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 10:52 am I agree it’d be good if they made Zenology Pro available as a lifetime instrument, maybe make it count as two choices rather than one to reflect the increased instrument price.
Hey, WatchTheGuitar. Luckily, with my new position, I can advocate more for things that you all want, so just let me know and I can report these requests higher on the chain when discussing feedback with my team. I am always following these threads to track issues and requests.
PAK wrote: Fri Jan 06, 2023 12:09 pm Speaking of which, to buy, if going the Zenology Icons Bundle route, with the 15 EXZ's, you'd (checks) come out at $798.85. The alternative 5080 route, with the 10 SRX, is $828.90. So their pricing isn't as "random" as it seems sometimes.. You pay roughly the same regardless of route chosen.

If someone wants to add the Zenology life-time keys onto their 10 Play4Life keys, Roland won't have left you with much change from $2,000. At which point, some might question if they should just have went with their hardware. I doubt any of this is by accident.. ;)
Hi, PAK. Let's take a quick look at the numbers for the ZENOLOGY Pro Analog Icons bundle to clarify what is included in the bundle.

Roland Cloud is offering a ZENOLOGY Pro Analog Icons bundle as a single Lifetime Key purchase. Analog Icons includes ZENOLOGY Pro and four iconic ZEN-Core Model Expansions! As a bonus, this collection includes one free year of Ultimate Membership for new subscribers, giving access to everything in Roland Cloud.

Lifetime Key Prices:
ZENOLOGY Pro $229
JX-8P Model Expansion $149
JUNO-106 Model Expansion $149
JUPITER 8 Model Expansion $149
SH-101 Model Expansion $149

New customers receive one year of Roland Cloud Ultimate Membership for FREE ($199 value)

Total value is $1,024.

ZENOLOGY Pro Analog Icons Lifetime Key Collection, including a year of Roland Cloud Ultimate = $499

If you want to own the Lifetime Keys, Analog Icons is a great deal that lets you access all of these sounds permanently as software, and on ZENCore hardware instruments as well.

Please feel free to reach out anytime. Thanks!

Hmm.. Wait just a second - These expansions are all $149! The JD-800 expansion (not included) is also $149, but claims its price is a "special offer". Why does it act so hoity toity and think it's special compared to the others? ;)

Seriously though, JD-800 should maybe be in the bundle? But at least (if Roland insist on using the term "special offer") could they, just maybe, give it an offer price which is actually better than exactly the same price as all other model expansions? Just a thought ;)

And speaking of special.. Could you put a word in to get the Eric Persing "Special Sounds" Signature Series JD-800 card released on Roland Cloud? It was a Japan only release, afaik by Roland, which contained 100 sounds by Mr P. That's exactly the sort of thing Roland should be putting on their Cloud Service?.. ;)

Cheers, and congrats on the new position :tu:

And history repeats...

Post

I have been tempted to get a Juno X, but the Zenology Expansions are locked out of the Play4Life deal. I can only use my keys to claim items from the Legendary category and a few other items.

If I switched from the System 8 to the Juno X, it would have been handy to use my 3 licence keys to get the Jupiter 8, JX-8P etc.

If that ever changes I'd definitely think about it.

well thank you Brian for all the help you've given here. Best of luck in the new role.

Being one of the older generation I'd love to see an emulation of the SH5.

Today was day 8 of not being able to use Zenology pro even though I have paid for the "Ultimate" level membership and Roland Cloud logged in says I don't have a payment due until Feb 2023. Anyone got advice or help for this? They also took away the Juno Chorus, JX3P, and a host of other plug ins that I used constantly for sessions the past couple of years.
The D50 and JV-1080 still work but that's about it.

My Problem has now been solved. (Thank you Brian)

Cool. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been disrespected. It's just that it can be very difficult to understand Roland's messaging and "tiers" for all of the sub/lifetime stuff. To be frank, it's sort of a rat's nest of info and seems to change occasionally.

Hey, PAK. Thanks! I understand your point about offering a consolidated bundle with the JD-800 Model Expansion included with the rest.

When we rolled out the ZENOLOGY Pro Analog Icons bundle the JD-800 Model Expansion was not yet released, so rather than removing a bundle that people had paid for, to change it and make them purchase again, we offered the JD-800 separately. The "special" part of the offer is because it includes a 6 month membership to Roland Cloud Ultimate (a $120 value) for the price of $149.

As for the Special Sounds JD-800/990 card, this has been a semi-frequent request with our community as people really dig "I Can't Dance" by Genesis, for which I also have a ton of fondness. :hihi:

The reality is that if the soundset has been licensed in a specific territory, there may be restrictions on availability of where those sounds can be offered. We log the requests for the JD-990 Special sounds weekly, so don't worry, we're keeping track of demand.

Hi, J Veronica. I would definitely recommend The Roland Cloud Connect WC-1 for the JUNO-X. The WC-1 is a wireless USB dongle with app that allows you to load all of your favorite Roland Cloud content straight to your JUNO-X by selecting it on your phone. It also comes with a Roland Cloud membership, so you can have the best of both worlds, all for $99. Here's a quick link.

I had lifetime keys for the Zenology Soundpack bundle 1 to 99 that is gone now after they added more sound packs in the Cloud.
Hi, D-Fusion. If you have a Lifetime Key for the SDZ 1-100 bundle, it will always be attached to your account. I'll reach out to see if I can assist with this. We are up to SDZ118, but that shouldn't have changed any previous purchases. Thanks for letting me know!

It's all good, EnochLight. I'm online doing membership support all week, so I have a pretty thick skin. 8) If you have questions I'm always available to help.

Our basic structure is Lifetime Keys if you want to own instruments, or membership if you want access to a wider variety of sounds. With membership, we have monthly or annual options.

Our main promo is the Play 4 Life promotion where you can get reward instrument Lifetime Keys that you keep by purchasing a membership.

We have hardware content in the Hardware section, and software content in the Software section, or you can view every title available and sort with the filter buttons in the Library.
