It’s one of the granddaddy’s of resynthesis
So what’s the big gorilla of additive synths now?

In addition to Sumu, I can't wait for Martinic's upcoming RMI Harmonic Synthesizer emulation!nilhartman wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 10:52 am FWIW, I just bought FL Fruity Edition + Harmor to use it on my mac with Live and Max. Least expensive way to add it to the toolbox if you’re on OSX (and don’t care about FL as a DAW). I’ve created a simple FL template that loads Harmor, so that it feels like another VSTi when using the FL wrapper in Live, and patched a simple M4L device to dial and send CCs to a dedicated Harmor IAC bus.
I’m kind of an additive junkie and Harmor has so many tricks up its sleeve I’d say it’s worth the hassle. Somehow it’s more versatile sounding than Razor IMO (I love Razor but I feel like a copycat whenever I use it) yet pretty intuitive to operate. The countless partials make a difference, but I suppose the magic is in the editors.
I’m super impatient to use and abuse Zebra 3’s additive rendering engine though, from what Urs shared that could be my dream synth.
Super impatient to jam the hell out of Sumu too.

Harmor is one of the best Synths ever. But having to load the entire FL as a plugin just to use Harmor is such a suckness I can't even....nilhartman wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 10:52 am FWIW, I just bought FL Fruity Edition + Harmor to use it on my mac with Live and Max. And apparently Urs didn't even show the really juicy parts for that!
I hope we get a public beta of Zebra 3 this year!!

If I remember correctly, the limitation of the editions is audio recording inside FL itself.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 3:34 pm i didn’t think the fruity edition loaded plug-ins for some reason
I don't care anymore anyway... have a license I can't get rid of.
Lifetime updates my ass...

OK but I wouldn't be interested in using FL as a DAW anyway except to host their plugins of which I have many and can no longer access them on Mac. tbh it's still too much to pay just for that though - I wish their free Fruity Wrapper thing could load their plugins. All I want is to be able to use them again.sQeetz wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 3:47 pmIf I remember correctly, the limitation of the editions is audio recording inside FL itself.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 3:34 pm i didn’t think the fruity edition loaded plug-ins for some reason

I have all them, and can use them even natively on an Apple Silicon Mac. That's not the point.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 6:50 pm

The point is, that in order to be able to use, for example, Harmor.... in another DAW, you need to load FL as a plugin and within FL you can load Harmor.
That's just bullshit

Wolfgang Palm’s Infinite was an additive beast. I’m waiting for his synths to reappear under the Plugin Alliance offerings. Don’t know what’s taking so long.

Yes this is my biggest hope along with SumoEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 3:06 am Wolfgang Palm’s Infinite was an additive beast. I’m waiting for his synths to reappear under the Plugin Alliance offerings. Don’t know what’s taking so long.

Infinite was pretty intimidating though. I think I’m most looking forward to wave mapper. Excellent stretch quality.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 10:06 amYes this is my biggest hope along with SumoEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 3:06 am Wolfgang Palm’s Infinite was an additive beast. But infinite seems to be about the most powerful additive resynthesizer out there, a lot of it reminds me of alchemy.

indeed, we are waiting for wolfgang palm's stuff for a long time, ánd Sumu. i only read an article, which was quite extensive about Sumu, in a german magazine.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 10:06 amYes this is my biggest hope along with SumoEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 3:06 am Wolfgang Palm’s Infinite was an additive beast. still no ATA for a beta, for Sumu, will be a great synth, that is for sure...
and still no ETA for a module for VM, that i myself am the only user, made a lot of tracks/recordings with it, that is quite an additive beast, i call it a Complex Additve Oscillator, well the term isn't precise i think.
64 partials, all can be modulated at audio rate, by other partials, or other modulation sources...
every partial has an envelop.... and PM, FM, AM, etc.... quite a beast....
and it has already been extended, and therefore, a rewrite is necessary, but once it is there, it will not attract a lot of users, but i believe, for additive synthesis, in soft modular enviromnent, and it is fully modular, even with breakout modules...
but that one, well....
EDIT: Harmor still works on windows.... for how long?

I too am surprised and disappointed with PA for taking so long to relaunch the Wolfgang Palm synths.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 10:06 amYes this is my biggest hope along with SumoEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 3:06 am Wolfgang Palm’s Infinite was an additive beast. After all these years, I was finally able to get a 32bit version of Harmor working in Cubase 12. And yep, just as I remembered, it's as complex now as it was 15 years ago. IOW, manual time.
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

Why are you using a 32-bit version? Harmor is 64-bit since a long time. I have it.Boy Wonder wrote: Mon Jan 09, 2023 10:35 am After all these years, I was finally able to get a 32bit version of Harmor working in Cubase 12.
