Last time I checked, all reference hardware was still in my studio.hebex wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 7:34 pm Yes, I was. I owned both for about a year and a half and compared the two very often.
Like I said before, I would not expect Repro to be very close to the modern versions of their kind. I'd also not expect it to sound close to every single vintage one, as calibration and all matters a lot.

(Also, Dave Smith and I had good laughs when I presented to him Repro with all the quirks and details... we had a drink afterwards. In think he found it hilarious, but sadly he could not agree to co-marketing. In case of which we might actually have posted direct comparisons.)

I think if you got Matt Johnson to make a video of RePro-5, drenched in the same kind of FX as his Prophet video, where he's using the Rev. 4 as the keyboard controller, then revealed at the end it was RePro-5 all along, hebex wouldn't have been able to tell in advance of the reveal.

Also, I always go back to this video:
Not Urs' Prophet, sometimes there's very slight differences in filter cutoff and envelope timings as he's tweaking things on the fly, but you can't tell me that they're not incredibly close here. I bet two Rev 3's would be as far apart from each other in a similar comparison.

People who love your products know why, people who dislike them just make you lose your time, unless there’s something you think you can learn from it for a new product. YOU know.

Given that even 2 same hardware units might not sound exactly the same, so yes you can say its exactly the same in terms of prophet sound.hebex wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 7:36 pmNobody said it doesn´t sound analog. But does it perfectly replicate the original hardware? That is the question very few here in KvR apparently is comfortable to hear and discuss.Lbdunequest wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 7:11 pmI just dont care about you so i rather give up. Your opinion wount impact my joy using Repro and claiming it sounds analog.hebex wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 7:06 pmOh, why, don´t give up so easily now. Why don´t you show me what the repro 5 is made of, come on.Lbdunequest wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 7:04 pmI played with many analog synths and have 1 which is not prophet. But repro sounds as analog like my analog synth. Is it like prophet rev 3? Dont know that but there are many people who own prophet and say its convincing. Having expierience amd owning analog synth i tend to believe it.hebex wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 6:58 pmAs I said it´s the other way around. Those who make a fantastic claim that a software can perfectly emulate a hardware analog synthesizer, are the ones to produce the proof about it.
Let anyone who make that claim recreate the sounds made for example in this video perfectly, and we´ll see. I´m all ears!
I think there is too much effort to make comparisons and recreations to some analog snob i dont care about anymore.
