They should have already released Orange Vocoder 4, 5, 6, and 7. Whatever's holding them up could have made it into Orange Vocoder 8.

But the synth part is an integral part of the vocoder, no? That you didn't need to hook it up to a synthesizer - all is happening in the plug? Wasn't that one of the big things when OV was first released back in the day?

Of course. But if you introduce a new, long awaited vocoder, and the only information you give is about the synth peresets, its kind of weird.

I think one of the most boring parts of original OV was the synth bit. You can barely do anything beyond waveshapes, tuning and basic filter with no modulation.

So I guess they are excited about how much they've enhanced the synth bit, considering how bad it was (is).

Still, you'd think they'd recognise that people who are following this are probably more interested in the vocoder part, the new algos, how it sounds, how much configurability we have..

They do the hype in the only way they know how; all I'm interested in is the release date and if I'll be paying an upgrade (from a purchase late last year).

Maybe the vocoder part was left out and they will only release the synth part and then later, much later the vocoder will follow - sorry, couldn't resist.

Saw a detailed presentation of the new version at 2022's SB. It seemed ready, but Zynaptiq was being coy about any actual release date. As amazing as the new features will be, there comes a point where it's not really worth it anymore.

user since 2003 and regardless the irony of this situation or non situation regarding the release of the new version, i can't help thinking the same.

it looks like the orange vocoder au has been classified in legacy products
Mabe the deal is to wait a couple of years each time they change something on their website regardin OV ?
