twas john lennon's favourite synth
used it on several hits, most prominently for every sound in "all we are saying is give bees a chant".

not true, it was Paul who used his metronome to count from Strawberry fields to Penny lane (as they were both a-sides, actually a double a-side). The metronome was the first counter to ever be used in a pop song and (Paul used the click preset, he is a preset guy). The metronome brought fame to the Beatles as it was their first UK single to hit number 1, as before that, since 1963, they only had clunkers in the charts, but the double a-side single changed it all for them (they even pushed Engelbert Humperdinck to number 2 so they managed to release him from having constantly number 1 hits from 1963 up until that point). Later that year (1967) Paul also used a finger pie, but that's a completely different story.

Have you heard this story on CNN today ?

A guy has been scammed. He purchased a Hive2 licence and received a Hive2 licence instead. The guy explained he asked for a refund, but the reseller, BuyYourPluginsAndLeave, says they "don’t have a f#ckin’ clue about what [the guy] really wants as [he] got what [he] purchased".

Sounds obvious to me. I’m sure KVR will understand. This is a scandal.

Poor guy. But at least he did not get Hive2. Imagine that, you buy Hive2 and get Hive2.

Even worse would be buying a Hive2 license from a shady, Chinese dealer at an extremely discounted sale price. Only for the order to be, after installing and licensing the Hive2 software, cancelled and offered 5 useless samplepacks in return.

That would really get me buzzing. Safer to just order your Hive2 from a shop in Stingapore instead.

I just ordered HORVE 2. That's the right thing, right?

Post

I fear that was a mistake. HORVE 2 is a little bit worse than Hive2. It's sounding less defined and has not as much overtones. I think it has also less fx slots. But at least HORVE 2 has about the same quality as Hive2. And even when Hive2 is not a top tier synth like Hive2, it means it's not that bad.

Post

Well crud.
It was on a small Ledwievian sale website, and half the price, so I get what I paid for I guess

If Hive 2 is really that much better than Hive 2, I bet we will move to 100 easily... Unless we all become blind of those eyes rolling too much...

Guys, I was thinking about buying a second hand Hive2 on reverb. I was wondering what I should look for to ensure I'm getting a solid, working copy? I know to try powering it on and off and playing all the keys. But what else? Are there any wear concerns with aging on these units?

this is obviously a trick question, as reverb is "an electronically produced echo effect in recorded music", or an imagined space. it's not real, so how you can you buy hive2 there?

and what happened to the first hand... ???? :o

An older copy always sounds more analog.

I think I need more space to reflect on that.
