What an extraordinary guitarist, developed his own style and sound. BtW, He was just touring, here in Helsinki last summer (Johnny Depp in the rhythm guitar). RIP.

That sucks. I just woke up and saw the headline. Thanks for your music, Jeff. Hope you're jamming with Jimi.

What great things he did. I learned a lot from him. RIP.

Thanks so much everyone for the thoughts and videos. It's nice to read. He was truly a musician's musician...

About 20 years ago I was wearing my Jeff Beck tshirt, an older woman had to ask me: what, he's still alive?? Yes, I saw him and bought this recently was my answer.

R.I.P. He was great.

I recall that Charles Mingus (at a time when he was already suffering from ALS) when asked about Beck''s recording of Goodbye Pork Pie Hat being more popular than the original responded that he really appreciated receiving the royalties. :D

Bert Jansch & John Renbourn had already recorded it in 1966, and John McLaughlin in 1971, but Jeff's version for whatever reasons became the most popular guitar cover.

One thing we can't complain about is Jeff not being prolific. There's plenty of stuff to listen to...for the first or the umpteenth time...

rest in peace, a guitarist's guitarist.
