But definitely try probing different points in the patch with a scope. Easiest way to be sure.

Was starting to get back to making music then picked up Marvel’s Midnight Sons so that’s probably ruled out the rest of January. :(

Made an extended mix for the new CD.
This is being released as a single due to the tune getting a surprisingly strong response.

First time I have ever released a "single" but the music industry has changed considerably in the last 5 years.

Of course in the future, all music be will made by AI..... :cry: :party: :phones:

Got around to creating a VCV Rack approximation of my physical eurorack meaning I could lay on the sofa with the laptop and build some patches to try ideas out. Think I've sussed that logic problem I was having though it may be more down to how the physical OR gates work with triggers. If the triggered gate stays up too long or not long enough then it could well be the problem.

tested the small cache of four PAL 'video enhancers' and a titler that i bought off ebay. only one of them isnt basically NOS; they're all pretty much pristine, still in their original plastic bags and boxes, with cables, the cheapo mics and everything. one of them even came with the original VHS instruction video, another came with a brand new PSU when they were actually sold without them!
fed them all from the tamron fotovix cameras, a couple are slightly glitchy operationally (cheap pots) but that's not exactly a problem, they're all intended to be scrambled anyway. all working fine.
now to try and work out where to put them; eventually i'll try and circuit bend them.

i do find it amusing they've mostly all also got (fairly primitive) built-in stereo (RCA plug) audio mixers, might be fun to simultaneously wire them all up as a little bank of no-input feedback-y thingies.

My Panasonic video mixers have audio I/O and originally, I was like "Oh how quaint". But then I realized that some of the video effects and transitions are audio reactive. So now I have an send routed to the audio ins on the video mixers. :lol:

oooh, thats interesting. newer models or older PAL/NTSC ones? ive got 3 panasonic video mixers; a wj-mx10, a wj-ave55, and a wj-ave5.

The old ones. The WJ-MX30 is my main video mixer and I also have a circuit bent WJ-AVE3 and both have an 'A/V Synchro' feature. The MX-30 can also trigger an auto-fade with an audio cue.

Tried to run my bass through Thingamagoop 3000, which is supposed to be able to process audio as well as generate it. I didn't have a lot of success, so I did something else. But I've made a note to experiment with some basic waveforms through the TMG3K(*) to see if I can figure it out.

(It's an awkward name for sure. My wife calls it "the anglerfish" because it has that LED on a stalk that droops in front of its own face.)

Oh wow, I didn’t realize there was another Thingamagoop. I assembled a Thingamakit and a Thingamagoop2. I haven’t messed with them in a long time! I should try running them through some pedals.

After more exploration, I don't find the audio input super useful. The best two processing modes are just plain pass-through and sine AM/tremolo. The effects are a little better, with the delay, bitcrushing and lowpass filter being serviceable but not really bringing anything new to the table (and way too little control over the delay), and the flanger being mildly interesting in a screwy way.

But I do love the thing as a drone synth. It's got MIDI too, maybe I should play with that as well.

Started a massive purge of software synths. Finally got myself to a comfort level with actually starting this purge by a lot of analysis of said synths vs. my needs and workflow.

The Zularic Repetitor arrived so been playing around with that all day. I tried something odd which seems to have promise, creating a bunch of chords in MIDI then splitting the notes into one note per MIDI channels and having each channel use a different trigger output of the Zularic Repetitor for its gate. Then I have each trigger fire a separate envelope which uses a VCA handling a mono synth module output from a separate filter. It's easier to do than describe, but I think this is probably just me rediscovering what bands did in the 70s for polyphonic chords.
This is the sort of output I'm getting just for that chord audio...
