I got rid of them the minute I bought omnitag.
I know, drove me mad too.

I guess developers like to be consistent within their own products, so a patch in Omni looks the same as a patch in Serum - it's part of their brand. I think most consumers prefer things consistent within themselves. You don't ask that Serum and Omni's browsers look the same, but when you look at one of them you want a unified way they are organised, not a hodge-podge of conflicting standards which is hard to use (which is the entire purpose of Omnitag of course). Those two different purposes can be in conflict, but by making the prefixes optional then every user can make that particular decision.

Sad to see this tool going away. I found it very useful. Spectrasonics aren't interested in it?

No, they very much do their own thing.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Very kind of you to say. My intent isn't to disappear, I'm just trying to be wise financially.

Someone on Reddit suggested I might be able to host OT on Plugin Boutique... which would limit my direct costs, and might provide more exposure - so I will check into that.

Folks, Omnitag still lives! And half price through to the end of the year with code BF2022 at checkout.

So pleased it's still available. There is literally nothing else like it, and it does such a great job (if I do say so myself!)

So this is for tagging older libraries? My own libraries are fairly recent so is there any other use for this when creating Omnisphere expansions?

Post

I have used to tag libraries that xame out in 2021 and 2022.
Not everyone follows the spectrasonics specs.

Like rsp said, this is for any third-party library that doesn't use Spectrasonics' standard tagging - doesn't matter if it's old or new.

And, not sure when I'll do another sale - but I tend to do them 2-3 times per year.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support!

Ah Ok, well I think I follow the tags with my expansions, but it looks like a cool app. :tu:

Can I just ask is this dead and unsupported now (as I recall seeing something regarding no further development), or is it still going. Checked the webpage and looks live and selling, so thought Id ask for clarification. Thanks

Unless there's some magical spike of interest from somewhere, there's unlikely to be any new feature development, but it's all still working perfectly on Mac and Windows.

The way it is designed is that it scrapes the tags from your own installation of STEAM products. That means that as Spectrasonics move goalposts and change stuff, OmniTag should go with it. As a utility it should be good for a long while to come.

That's good to hear and makes sense. Thank you.

Hi MFXxx, I am still around and happy to answer any questions. The only updates I envision are updates based on new releases of Omnisphere (if something breaks due to a new version). I am also considering doing a Silicon version at some point, time permitting.

But for now, it still 'just works' :)
