I second that. I got the impression that each round gets better and outputs more quality content.MilksterX wrote: Sun Jan 15, 2023 10:40 am Too many great tracks & 5s given this month, either you're all getting really good or my standards are slipping!![]()

Voted!
Great round this time! I just love how the community raises its game every time a peculiar synth comes up.
The drum / percussion design that some people achieved with Wave Manuel is just outstanding.
Great job people!

Congratulations to the winners and wow to neverbeeninariot missing out on the win by not voting.
I am not surprised at my placing but am actually surprised at how many 4's I actually got so thank you all sho did that. While I think I made a solid track my mix / mastering left a lot of points on the table I think which I think I have about fixed most of the issues thanks to all those who kindly left some constructive comments. I just ran out of time in the end to notice and fix a problem I think I made for myself when trying to mix and master it quickly at the end. I have at least learned from my mistakes this time and I think my entry for this month is sounding very polished already.
Wow, TheFrozenSea you did not seem to like any of the tracks with only 2 scores above 3 and overall giving 25 fewer points than the next lowest person.

congrats to everyone and hey thanks for the votes i honestly didn't know if anyone would like such a heavy track but with the saturation slider the overdrive and the fm i thought making those sounds was fun. i always learn new stuff and add some new tricks to the bag every time i listen to these tracks so thanks everyone for all the creative music this month. no prize for me this time around, and thanks to Richard for organizing this and keeping it rolling

It was Jasinski that couldn't vote and missed the win.BrainBeatMusic wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:57 am Congratulations to the winners and wow to neverbeeninariot missing out on the win by not voting.
I had ZioMau down for the top spot this month, so good to see their track in the top 5, but big congrats to mmGhost though, a really solid tune and deserved winner
Also - Puma17's track, only 12th? A travesty!
[Edit]
I see the folks ranked higher than me have expressed their prize preferences. I'd really like to receive a copy of NUSofting Modelonia. Thanks!

Hi!
Thank you everyone for votes received. Another unexpected high position.
Participating is fun and always an excellent "school". I see the level of the contest constantly raise. For that and everything else must to thank Richard and BJ.
This time I don't want to congratulate the winners and say what I liked, but since I hate giving low ratings and i'd like to don't give them anymore...often to the same users, i want to talk about this.
it might seem obvious and stupid what I'm about to say but for me(just my though), in a song, the musical aspects and general sound quality must not be missing. Stop. It doesn't matter if it's my favorite genre (I don't love reggae but I gave 5 points to Neverbeeninariot), or it's unique, innovative ideas with tons of notes/events, or it's a stellar production that looks like it came out from The Weeknd's studio, but simply there must be balance and enjoyment in the track. Sometimes I hear out of tune notes, imprecise rhythm, too acidic and "edgy" timbres, too dry finishes with unbalanced levels. Sometimes it feels like somebody in a hurry to get the job done. DAWs allow any form of correction quickly and just take a little more time to get satisfying results. I prefer 2 or very few chords and few but right notes. The metric must be accurate for not having disorder. There is "quantize" feature to correct and restore a good sense of rhythm. The timbres shouldn't hurt your ears. Sometimes VSTs haven't good ready made presets and if you aren't a sound designer(as i'm not), simple waveforms can be sweetened with simple EQs, delays and reverbs. The final track doesn't matter if it has LUFS at 6db, but if the song is tested on multiple speakers (good but mostly bad) a good sonic balance can be found for sure. For me a simple song...melodically, harmonically and rhythmically well-ordered with the right effects and levels between instruments will always work!..but this is just my though...
See ya soon and ciaoooooooo!

Hi All
Congrats to all the winners (including Jas! hope you are better soon) and thank you to everyone for all your votes and lovely comments, this was an interesting round, a quirky little synth which I found confusing, inspiring and challenging all at the same time! Thanks again to BJ & Richard again for throwing these our way.
Please could I get discoDsp Discovery as a prize?
Thanks
